I was thinking about venting my fuel cell directly to atmosphere. I read that someone on here elminated their charcoal canister and it threw codes and idled like ****.

I'd plug the vacuum line, but would it still run like ****. I can't see why unless the computer is somehow compensating for fuel vapor entering the engine thus the car leaning out... but i find that highly improbable as there would be lots of variables.

well purge valves are normally closed at idle. Only open at a light cruise. Vent solenoids are also open while the engine is running. I wouldn't see why you would have a problem. I also threw my charcoal canister in the trash. Just plug the vacuum line you should be fine.
