Hi,

I am an ST205 owner from the UK (I was actually born in Oklahoma but that is another story..!)

I am known as Spree on the forums in the UK (GT4OC and Celica Club UK) and having been developing a little dash kit for the gen six Celica.

I now supply Celica owners worldwide with my kit and have had fantastic feedback.

Check it out here : www.SpreeLED.com

If you would like one then I can do it for $39.99 delivered for 6GC members which is a bit of a saving over the conversion price from the £24.99 that it costs in the UK.

PM me on here or you can contact me through the web site.

Many thanks to presure2 for approving this post! ;-)

Spree. :-)

Would it be possible to just get the clock, and the hvac system as I already have the cluster modified the way I like. Also, do you include the controls as well (as in the window/lock controls)??

Thanks for this great service to the 6GC community!

If you look on the site, it is the 3 LED's for the main instruments, 2 for climate control, 1 for starter ring, 1 for cigarette lighter.

I may actually purchase this, but gotta get paid first.

Hi,

Yes this is a difficult place due to the fact it only uses three bulbs for the US version and two for the jap but my kit does a good job I think! :-)

Here's a pic of the US style heater controls in blue.

I am am personally sceptical with pictures as a result can be cheated by using a long exposure on the camera so I would take a look at my video of a blue kit fitted to a jap car if I were you, and remember that this is with only two bulbs!

Hi,

Yes I can do the clock filter for you. By hvac system do you mean heater controls and do you require led's for the cigarette lighter ring and ignition ring?

Yes thats correct, plus you get a light filter for the clock, a photo instruction booklet to take into the car to aid fitting and support from me if you have any questions.

Right, I actually need to get dressed and get out of the house now! :-o

Hi,

I dont have any pdf files as my instructions are sold with my kits in the form of a booklet and my led's also have a simple but important difference to them that gives the instrument cluster a much better light spread and illuminates the needles properly.

I can give you a quick breakdown of how to simply swap the bulbs in the instrument cluster over though, its very easy. You will need a long phillips head screwdriver and a stubby one. :-) :

1. Adjust steering wheel to lowest position.

2. Grab plastic trim behind steering wheel and pull it off with a hand on each side.

3. Locate and remove the four screws holding the black plastic shroud to remove it.

4. Locate and remove the four screws securing the clocks.

5. Release the electrical connectors behind the instrument cluster

6. Install the LED's into the three largest green bulb holders by twisting them out and swapping the bulbs.

7. Make sure you test for correct polarity before refitting by plugging everything back in and switching the lights on, whatever one is not working needs to be removed, rotated 90 degrees, refitted and retested.

8. Refit everything as per reversal of removal in true Haynes style.

9. Sit in your car and gaze, awestruck at your accomplishment for a while but then realise that you would like the rest of your dash to match your speedo, that you may of even possibly bought the wrong LED's and that you now actually crave a full kit from Spree lol

omg haha I just reread my post, I entirely did not meant to say gauge cluster, but climate control instead xDDDDD. The climate control LED should be relatively easy to install? I'll be ordering soon.

Lol no worries.

The climate control on jap cars is pretty easy bit the hvac unit on the US cars is a pain in the neck due to the cables that have to be disconnected and the fact that the unit itself is more complex. I did manage to fit a kit without disconnecting the cables but it was still a pain. Its still doable though and all it means is that it takes longer to do. But we are still talking four hours max if you are really taking your time. I did it in the dark!

Hi,

Just to confirm that the backlighting is provided by three removable bulbs as you have shown in your picture. These are easily changed using my kit.

The button indication LED's such as the one found in the rear window demister button need to be unsoldered and the new LED's need to be resoldered in.

I do not provide these as my kit is intended as a DIY kit without the need to be any good at solderering. I feel that changing the backlighting colour gives a very satisfying result that will suit most people but I do understand that some will want to also change the button colour. I also do not have time to do this service for people.

In the UK I recommend these people to a guy on the UK forums who will do this as a service if you send him your unit for £20 ($32 ish) but I dont know about over your way. I can contact him for you though if you are really desperate? He does really good work.

Julian.

That will be the one for the Ignition ring if yours lights up. If not then its a spare!

Julian.

ok cool, can you provide the extra led if i get your kit, i can solder it , piece of cake. I want to go to a different color, and have a new board that i do not want to solder. just the small one..

do you have this kit in orange, like the 2000+ newer celicas...

Hi,

They come in Blue, Red, White, Yellow and Green.

I would describe it as more of an electric green then the standard green.

I am posting a green kit out this week so I will ask the guy for pictures. :-)

There has been a bit of a delay on last weeks orders but it should be with you by next week now. I'm a one man band and I make all the light filters and prepare everything by hand so it sometimes takes a little time.

But it will be worth it! And you can't get this kit anywhere else! :-)

By the way!

I have quite a few new products for the Gen 6 Celica on my website @ www.SpreeLED.com

The most exciting I think is the Full LED courtesy light conversion kit for £24.99 delivered (or $39.99) I will also do a deal for people who have already bought my dash kits and want the courtesy light kit too.

If you want anything from there then PM me and we can sort out a special 6G Celica price. :-)

I am doing free worldwide delivery too.

Hi, sorry mate, I have been busy today fitting. A whole car led conversion on a celica vert so have not had time to reply.

All kits apart from the white ones have been sent although its a bank holiday now over here so I don't know if that will effect things.

There seems to be a large variation in the time it takes for things to arrive in the post so I'm afraid that I can't be much help there. All I can say is that not one of my kits has ever got lost in the post yet! (Touch wood)

Sit tight peeps!

Nice one. Thank you very much for posting these.

Looks good man and show's very well what the kit looks like on a US car. The blue is rather washed out on these pics but it shows the light spread well.

Glad you are happy. :-)

These are not the best quality pics but you get the idea.

I'm producing a better filter for the clock this week to counteract the slight green tinge that the light emits even when the green filter is removed. You can see the green tinge in the photo above. I am using a special light filter gel that is specifically designed for this purpose. :-)

This will make the clock match the white kit better.

I am just waiting for the filter material to arrive as we are on a public holiday over here so everybody is out getting drunk lol.

I will have it by the end of this coming week though by hook or by crook!

Finished perfecting my installation on getting everything blue. I been having issues with starter ring installation, Julian could you help me on this? The LED doesn't stay lit for some reason, not sure why. I haven't been able to change the clock film or install the HVAC yet. But I like the way the turnout is for the guage cluster.

Hi mate,

Speedo looks good.

The starter ring is not supposed to stay lit.

It lights up for 5 seconds after you unlock the car so that you can see where to put the key.

Don't worry about it!

For the HVAC unit, when you disconnect the black and blue cables under the hood and by the pedal and disconnect the harnesses in the back, does the whole unit come out along with the cables? And also I noticed in the instructions u said you could pull the unit out a bit to get to the little screws holding the climate control plate in. If those screws are removed could the face plate just come off and you can work on fitting the bulbs?

Hi,

Yes thats right.

I fitted one of these on a car with cables a couple of days ago and I found that if you release the cables, you can then pull the unit forward enough to access all the screws without having to remove the unit and the cable completely. This makes refitting much easier as I can imagine that getting those cables back in once they are fully removed would be a PITA.

You pull off the large knob after you have removed the small screws on the top and bottom and the unit should come away from the part attached to the cables, there are some plastic clips on the side that you may have to release in order to do this.

You can then take apart the rest of the unit to fit the led's. I found that you actually dont have to thread the led's through the top of the circuit board as I have mentioned in the update to the instructions if you dont want to as they will go in through the bottom if you angle them in sideways an then straighten them again once they have gone through. This will save you having to take that bit apart.

This is the most fiddley part of the installation on a US car so just take your time and double check that the led wires are not crossed or touching in any way after you have fitted them before you check for polarity.

I took an extra pic of the climate control coming apart that I will upload tomorrow if you want?

Yeah that would be cool man. I looked at it like how the heck would i get the wiring back through the firewall without breaking my back and de-attaching my arm >_< I'll give it a try tonight, i just need to remove the knobs and i think the unit will come apart. The tiny screws are already out

Nice one, you should only need to remove the large knob and the unit will come apart.

Here are a couple of pics as promised.

I only needed to remove the large knob as shown.

And the unit coming apart.

You can then install the leds at your leisure!

I finished sending all kits last week apart from the white one's as I was still waiting for some filter material as the company had forgot about me!

Those are being sent tomorrow.

There is a guy in the UK that says that he has still not got his yet so I am not surprised they have not all arrived in the states yet as there has been tons of 'bank holidays' over here lately so I think thats put everything behind.

I haven't even been able to go out at all this weekend as my money has not cleared into my bank due to all of this bank holiday nonsense!!

I'm sure your kits will be with you very soon.

Thanks for that mate, all I get is people bugging me about when the kits are going to arrive when the fact is I dont know!

I send them via the best service that I can afford at the price I do the kits for and so far none have got lost so that can't be bad.

Thanks for that mate, all I get is people bugging me about when the kits are going to arrive when the fact is I dont know!

I send them via the best service that I can afford at the price I do the kits for and so far none have got lost so that can't be bad.

Yeah no worries. I love that people think they're getting overnight service from Europe for a total cost of $19.99. tongue.gif

In their defense however, there have been some "crooks" on this forum, and not everyone is as trusting with their money nowadays.

You're not a crook tho - I will vouch for you any day! wink.gif

I'm glad you guys are liking the kits. :-)

The only kits that have been really late going out are the white ones due to the filter being wrong and a company sending me mashed up filter gel...so I apologise if i anybody on this forum.

It has been a challenge to eliminate all the green from the clock on the white kits but I think I have nailed it at last.

I have a fesh stock of courtesy light kits in so I think I'm going to do a new topic for those now!

J.

hmmm. Yes, starting to be concerned about your kit now....this could actually be the first one to get lost! I knew it would have to happen at some point...

Can you PM me your full name so that I can check it against the paypal payment to see what the address was that it was posted to?

I will send you another kit if it is lost and try to claim the money back from the postal service so dont worry.

julian.

Excuse me? We are currently communicating by PM regarding me sending you a replacement kit for the lost kit on monday.

I have already prepared this kit and have just PM'd you to confirm the address for postage at your request and I then see this comment on my thread.

I have been nothing but helpful and and responsive to you and it really is not my fault that your kit may have got lost in the post.

I have checked your address in the paypal notes and a possible reason for your kit not turning up is the fact that you had written it down alll in a line and I possibly may of broken it up wrong when I printed out the label for it. These addresses are unfamiliar to people from other countries and these things can happen.

On the other hand your kit may very well still turn up but either way, I have been fully helpful and cooperative and offered you a replacement regardless of the reason.

So can you please tell me. Do you want a replacement kit or do you want a refund? It is no skin off my nose either way but I need to know before monday morning as this is when it will get sent out.

Kind Regards,

Julian.
