 Driver's foot rest, How to remove? |

Does anyone know how to remove the 2 plugs/fasteners that hold the driver's footrest? Doesn't look like there is any way to grab them, pull them or twist them.

I've always used a flathead screwdriver - turn them counter-clockwise and pop the footrest off.
