I just had a conversation online with a friend back home on the east coast who is just waking up for classes, when I have yet to go to sleep on the west coast because I am up writing a paper. Man I will not miss this after graduation.

Happy Friday, everybody!

Just wrote one of my exams yesturday and have 4 left.
Good thing about my program is I get a 6 month summer, where I have to work a job related to what Im taking and I get paid for it smile.gif

My scholarship program makes me take summer quarter off also which I am REALLY looking forward to! Although I can't wait to just graduate and be done with it as well. Like stated, college work is more tedious then a job..and you don't get paid for it.

I feel the pain... but with the lack of Graduation :\
I have 2 HUGE projects due this coming week, 2 huge papers due the following week and a presentation. then Finals... which is like one extremely hard one, a medium one, and an easy one... so its like three more weeks for me... but its okay! I leave for Japan on the 13th... worth it.

I officially have one 5 page research paper and 4 finals... and 3 weeks as of tomorrow... until graduation. Then a trip to the tail of the dragon with celicatech, countless weddings to attend, and apartment hunting in Chicago starts now bc I found out last night I got into grad school out there biggrin.gif

I'd say this weeks been pretty good!

nice. i did one too for my turbomachinery class. our presentation would have been much more fun if my partner had brought his sample turbo to class. presentations are 10x more exciting when you bring something as show-&-tell.

Enjoy....

Sarcasm. You'll probably hate it just like all the rest of us.

I'm currently taking a semester off and making $1,225 a week. This beats the living sh*t out of college.

Trust me you aren't the only one. I would honestly hate to not be in school. Yeah I don't get paid, but I like it so much better than work. I only have the rest of this week and then next week is finals week. Next semester I start actually taking classes towards my major. I want to hurry up and graduate so I can do grad school though.

Word. I like school and I like how I get to play baseball, but I also like not having homework haha.

Just out of curiosity since it seems like there are a lot of college kids on the forum, where do you guys go and what are you studying?

I will start off by saying I'm an American Studies major at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Kinda random since I'm planning on going to grad school for Sports Management, but still pretty interesting. Any others?...

I vote for Bonkers. That word has a nice ring to it.

Hector, Why UNM instead of UH for ME? Everytime I hear UNM, it reminds me of some of the experiments/tests they do on Mythbusters.

I just started my masters in Business Administration; took Accounting this semester and got a B. Thinking of taking finance or marketing at UNC-C this Fall.

I loved getting my BS in Comp. Sci. but not for the work - but because it allowed me to have so many great and lasting memories.

Banoodles is more like it. anybody who does ME or EE is a maniac. lol I have dual batchelors in psychology and sociology, i do child and family counseling.

yay for psychology! smile.gif I'm graduating with a BA in psych on Saturday, and starting a master's program (then Psy.D afterward) in counseling this fall. I'm not entirely sure which population I want to work with yet tho... But i have at minimum 2 years to figure that out...

in the meantime get a parttime job in a group home, thats the BEST/EASIEST way to get your foot in the door and get some cheap experience points. (idk how they do things there, but in nc, you have to have a certain amount of time in the field before you reach certain status' its wide open, from what i understand, the MR/DD population is always going to have some sort of funding (people are more sensitive about this population) most people start out working with kids and families, but i hear working with adults is easier

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

lol. Yes, I loved it. Granted, at times I felt like nothing more than a glorified babysitter- but you learn to deal. And we did have a sibling pair with significant personality disorders and had to remove them bc of safety issues for all the other kids... but aside from that....
I worked at a residential group home that works with child protective services... so the kids that got placed there were ones that had been removed from their families bc of drugs or abuse. While it seems morbid to say I loved it, it wasn't the fact that they got removed that I liked, it was the bond I was able to make with the kids and the difference you start seeing in them as they realize they're safe and cared for.

Watching psychological reactivity was especially interesting at times.. just watching how kids interacted after such traumatic situations and how they were able to rebound fully was absolutely amazing.

The most rewarding part for me was watching the family change to get the kids back, and the kids actually getting to go home to a safe, loving environment... But that was also the most heart wrenching part of the job... I got attached to a little 2 y/o girl I worked with for months... actually considered looking into fostering her if the parents rights did get terminated... luckily they got to go home to the grandma instead.

Staff I worked with was amazing. Everything was taken care of and the only issues we ever had was when the CPS case managers didnt stay on top of the case files... which happened a lot.... other than that I loved working there. Actually got offered a full time job working in the group home after graduation.. but I really want to get my doctorate, so I turned it down for now.
