so brenton1919 was/is replacing my motor, everything is hooked up but the car wont start.
when we turn the key, no crank no nothing but u can hear the relay

he suspects is the computer since none of the dash lights come on when u turn the key to "ON" like they're suppose to (for example the check engine etc.)
question is how to swithc the computer/alarm off.
we're trying the switch near the pedals, but no luck

any suggestions?

if you have a 3s you dont have a immobilizer, that issue is when your doing the v6 swap from the newer solara/camry, i would double check all connectors, make sure there pushed in firmly, and trace your ignition/starting system wires. good luck

its not really like a swap, just replaced the engine, so from my bad 5sfe, to a used 5s from the junk yard!

sounds something to do with electrical for sure, double check connections/wires and make sure they didn't rot or damage. then again we dont know the details of the replacement and if that motor is even good.

Had much the same problem with my missus' subi... ended up being a loose electrical connection somewhere! couldn't tell you where exactly; we unplugged the -ve battery then went around unplugging and replugging whatever we could find. re-connected the -ve to the battery and it was all good.

yeah since it got dark i couldn't get a chance to over look everything but, my main thing i think it is, is a bad ground wire i dont its in a good spot. the ground wire from the ecu but thats where it was when i took the old engine out didn't have my test light on me so i didn't get a chance to check for a good ground. im going to try and make it over there tomorrow before to see if i can get it started. but no people its not the starter or anything else if anything its the efi relay and it looks to me like its been replaced before, and if its not the efi relay its that dang crappy alarm toyota made on these cars. that happen to my car longggggg time ago that dang alarm wouldn't cut off so it had the whole car shut down we ended up having to bypass it... but im going to let u kno now i dont have time this week to get it to where u can drive it but i'am gonna do my best to get it started this week so this weekend u can drive it. we just had so many little problems from the start with us starting late and stuff... haha but on a good note i still did my swap in less than one day with switching all the parts and having to take the tranny out because i didnt have my dang jack lol but if u count hours wise. i wish the engine u bought was to a celica and i didn't have to take off all that crap lol. but ill try to get over there in the am to see if i can get it started. so this weekend i can drop that back mount in and u will be on your mary way

dont the engine harness connect to the body harness as some fuses in engine bay controll body type fuses, and have you checked starter yet? or the altinator wiring to make sure everything is connected? if you did a 5s to 5s swap then it should be working unless you forgot to hook something up, as i said go to your manual and start tracing power/ground wires, dont hurt to spend a couple hours tracing some wires just to be sure, even if you checked em do it again, ive did some stuff where at first look didnt spot anything wrong then look again and you find it out...

not really I. Mean u can roll up yor windows and everything else will without having the whole harness hooked up. I know its a ground problem because the windows aren't working there are sumthings that have there own ground and power wires and sum that run off of the engine harness ground... but now that he said the windows won't roll up I know its a ground because the dash lights weren't coming on either. I had the same problem with my car. But I have. Old school trick I do to make the whole car ground it self out which I will due to his car Saturday morning bright and early
