September sounds better to me, little cooler out. We should do some hiking on the other side of 71 from the spot. There's a few canyons that run way back into the hills with water falls and stuff that make nice walking. Group photos in Council Rock would be neat.

I don't know about September though, I don't like being cold. I'm a tropical people remember?

September still has warm days, just cooler evenings for the drive home. Nothing like rolling at night with the windows down and heat on...feels good man.

http://www.starvedrockstatepark.org/_data/...17-10_no_10.pdf trails of the state park. the hike from parkmans plain parking to down by the river into ottawa and kaskaskia is a good one...might be too long for some. a good 5 miles there and back with alot of up and down, good one for jogging/running though.

I'm good for any time in either August or September. Hell, have a Celica bonfire. I'll hook up a wagon to the BEAMS and we'll have a BEAMS-powered hayride.

The more, the merrier! I should be there with the BEAMS even I have to drive it there on three cylinders.

Okay, not really, but at least I'll be there.

I'm totally thinking the 27th of August.

I'd like to keep this meet warm.... I really hate the cold.

If it HAS to be pushed to Sept., the 10th is the only date we can do.

I've listed my preference and Daniel is down for whenever, so we need your input people! ie: Bitter; Stambo; Zake; Driver; BigBlock (mandatory attendance); Sodo; 4-eyed-freak; sixgentoyota; enderswift; cheela; beastman; Shigexile (mandatory); manda....

I'm going to be posting this up on Celicatech as well so maybe Ray will bring the dragon down this time.

Jordan: Throw this up on newcelica please. I promised those guys that I would invite them to our meet. Don't forget to inform them that there will be hiking and such, so bring proper/extra attire.

I'd say it's pretty much official at this point. August 27th, noon. I'll be bringing burgers, BEAMS, and the girlfriend. Chris, if I can fit them in the car, do you want me to bring the doors? I'm thinking one in the back seat, one in the trunk. And Tom, you better be there. I'm still debating between another BEAMS or a 3S-GTE. I really want to see Shig's car too. I still haven't gotten to see it.

The doors aren't a huge priority for me. If you want to bring them up, you can. If not, we can figure it out later.

Although, I am still interested in those seats if you're still willing to part with them.

Chris- you got it. The driver's seat has a couple of small tears in it and the rear seats are a little dry, but they're all yours.

Jordan- I have tried it. I just don't care for it. It feels so gutless until you get the lift going. I have to say, I haven't tried it with the 6 speed yet but the BEAMS pulls far harder than any of the 2ZZ's I've driven. The BEAMS produces 197 hp and 145 lb. ft. of torque. The 2ZZ is at 180 hp and 133 lb. ft. You can really feel the difference, despite the extra weight of the 6th gen and the cast iron block of the BEAMS vs. the aluminum block of the 2ZZ. The two motors are very closely related though. Several of the MR2 BEAMS guys are using a 2ZZ wiring harness and 2ZZ standalones.

try it with a 6spd, sadly I have auto frown.gif.

2ZZ takes to bolt ons and tuning pretty easy though, you going to get a cam-con for the beams?

I'm not putting the 2ZZ down by any means. Since you have an auto, you will probably agree with me when I say you just can't really keep it in lift. Yeah, you can shift on the steering wheel, but that beats the point of a good twisty road. You're still limited. So I cant say I've fully tested a 2ZZ, and definitely has pluses over the BEAMS. Like I said earlier, it has an aluminum block, not cast iron. It takes boost well. And there are actually bolt-ons available for it, unlike the BEAMS. I've read a little bit about camcons but it sounds way over my head. Those BEAMS guys speak a whole different language. They keep saying it's an easy way to get more power but after "easy" and "power," I don't understand a single thing they say. I think they're actually using a camcon for the 2ZZ though.

It's like a SAFC that can alter cam angle by intercepting the signal from the pcm and adding or subtracting from it. Actually, it's opposite a SAFC in that regard, well and the Cam-Con can also control AFR like a SAFC can. I'm thinking about getting one to play with at some point, but alter VVT too much and you'll throw a code for vvt malfunction.

I actually just read an interesting bit about a Camcon for a BEAMS.

http://www.mr2.com/forums/beams-owners-gro...ght-camcon.html

One of the first few posts there says that the BEAMS ECU, as well as the 2ZZ ECU, is smart enough to figure out what you've done after a little while and correct it. I know literally nothing about tuning to get more power and I know virtually nothing about SAFC's. It sounds to me like tuning VVT is a great way to make power though. That's one of the reasons I prefer Toyota's VVT-i to Honda's VTEC. VTEC uses a different set of lobes on the cam whereas VVT-i can actually control the timing of the cam, so you can tune it as opposed to just waiting for it to kick in. You should bring the Celica to the meet. Valve timing will have never changed so much at one single 6gc.net meet.

Yea, I was planning on it. Ass end is soo loose around 71 though, it really makes it not fun. bad rear struts+stiff sway bar=desire to pivot and snap over steer. I'm save for coil overs and I have a full bushing set, going to pick up a front sway and might change to hp plus front pads and hps rear. Since I don't daily drive it that much now some brake noise won't bother me...and I know how to silence it pretty well too. The wagner ceramic rear pads don't seem to keep the rotor faces clean at all, I have rust glaze on them. A few hard stops seems to clear it up but since the fronts are so much more aggressive a pad a stop hard enough to get the rears cleaned up is also a stop hard enough to just about pop my eyes out of my head. 7th gen stock brakes are pretty good....I can stop hard enough and fast enough to make myself a little dizzy from the negative G's.

One time I was doing just that and looked over to see a family of racoons looking at me. Was pretty funny, we just locked eyes as I passed by. I think I scared them a little.

I also have a sound system and a battery relocation in the trunk. I could make it work though. I think the seats will be harder than the doors. Fortunately, I have an extra Celi to practice with before the big day.

It'll be easy if I remove the backrests from the bottom part of the front seats. So what's the plan for the meet? Hiking somewhere new? Should I be prepared to provide more piggyback rides? I will bring a change pouch if so. And duct tape my sandals to my feet.

Jordan wants to try some trails that are closer to the shelter, so I'm leaving that one in his court.

But the short answer is yes.

You may want to fix your google link, it's showing a country club in Kansas....

Here's the correct location

Wait, you mean the meet ISN'T in Kansas?!?? That explains a lot... I was wondering why I was the only one at the last meet. And why it was held in a cow pasture.

I just copy/pasted that link from the Facebook page. Link fixed.

Feel free to call/text me if you get lost along the way. Looks like you're West of St. Louis, I'm a couple of hours East. We can definitely meet up and caravan in to the meet. Your route to the meet and mine both meet up in Bloomington, IL, so we can definitely meet up if you want.

I'm usually off on the weekends and I'm no 3S-GTE guru but if you need an extra hand for a weekend in order to get the 3S going in time, let me know and I'll see if I can make it over there. It'd be cool to have another 3S at the meet.

Two weeks from tomorrow! In addition to who is coming, we need to decide who is bringing what. That always seems to be the part with the least planning. I'm bringing enough burgers for all of us but we still need buns, brats/hot dogs if anyone wants them, toppings, drinks of all sorts, plates/napkins, everything needed to grill (untensils, aluminum foil, charcoal, etc.) Jordan, still only two bites on newcelica? I'm trying to get a good idea if how many people are coming so I know how many burgers to make. By the way.... Just throwing this out there.... Not dropping any hints or anything, but I do like puppy chow... CHRIS AND STACY.... hint hint...

Ain't that the truth.

It doesn't help that despite the fact that its down for repairs almost every meet, you don't drive it to the point where it would break anyway..... wink.gif

It's not down for repairs often, this was a case of what was supposed to be a quality part from a quality supplier being a **** part. Both rear calipers from this supplier seized, first the left which I barely got them to warranty and now the right as well has seized. Am not happy, parts are in monday and I'm getting it done monday night at the barn. This weekend I'm going to go over and replacing the backing plates so I have a parking brake again. I need new suspension (105K miles), and my tires are crap. It's not like I'm breaking things, things are worn out.
