So, I'm in the process of starting an auto-to-manual swap and would like to know if the ECU from a 7A-equipped 'Rolla would work in my OBDII ST.

I've got two part numbers here; neither match the '97 AT200 ECU, except for the first number sequence.
89661‑02290
89661‑02330

The first is for the XE model, the second is for DX and LE; both are '97 units. I am assuming here that as long as the car I pull it from is OBDII, it should work correctly. Research on the interwebs hasn't turned up a conclusive answer, so I appreciate any help in advance.

Mods, please move this to Engine/Tranny section...feel like it belongs there more than here.

Help please?

Well, I've posted to toyotanation as well - no answer there either. At this point, I will go junkyard hunting soon, and I'll just rip out a Corolla ECU and see what's what. Maybe I'll discover something new.

Well, obviously the plugs are going to need to match. I expect the ignition and fuel mapping are slightly different because of the differences in weight on the two vehicles and the fact that the Celica may be tuned a little sportier. What effect this will have and whether or not a difference even does exist I do not know. As long as the electronic and emmisions components are identicle between the two engines there should be no reason it wont work beautifully. Most junkyards will give you a 30 day warranty so time the purchase of your ECU accordingly. If it doesnt work they will usually give you all the money you spent as credit towards purchases at their yard, they just wont give you cash back.

Let us know what you find out, and if I think of anything else I'll be sure to let you know.

^ Exactly. The junkyard I'll go to has a week-long return policy, so swap 'er out in the parking lot and if it's no good, bring it right back. I thought the same in accordance to mapping, but I'm more concerned about the plugs. I'd rather not cut into my existing harness, that's just asking for issues...

If I were you I would look up the part numbers for various electronic components for both vehicles. Make sure things like the Distributor and Ignitor are the same

Perfect. The distributor matches for the seventh generation Corolla. Igniter matches too. You are the man.
