Hi Bros,
I'm from HK, I'got a problem with my Celica 3SGE engine, it cannot reach the max rpm when running at any gear, and even just stay. The rpm grows without any drops or lacking power till 6000 rpm. It stops there, just like reaching the max rpm limit. I renew the old sparks plugs with Denso 16, and and ignition chord with TRD. Some car repair service suggest to check the distributor, but some claim that's the problem of rpm limiter/ O2 sensor... So do u know which part I can check and follow? Thanks! |

I used timing light to check it at idling speed of ~800 rpm, it's around 7-10 degrees, it seems normal. isn't it?
But one thing, I've found the coolant temperature raised very slowly to the normal operating level since starting engine, may be more than 5 minutes. Will that cause the engine stops at 6000 rpm? I would also suggest looking into the cam/ignition timing aswell, get a timing light. Is the car throwing any cel's at the moment? |

Not sure about your engine but I know with a 5S-FE you gotta jump two wires together in the diagnostic box to check timing. -------------------- ![]() |

Air filter and fuel filter in respectable condition?
Maybe the fuel pump, coil or ignition module |

its normal to take a while to get to normal operating temperature.
Does seem odd, when did it start happening? Did it do it before the sparkplugs and leads were swapped over? Any chance of a video to see whats happening? neutral rev and driving. -------------------- |

I got it from my friends a few months ago, the engine was working normally at that time, could reach ~8000 rpm. |
