Hey, as some of you members know I had overheating problems. The good news was that it was never over heating. It was a broken/loose ECT sensor connector that wasn't working properly so it showed the gauge that it was overheating when it never really was. So I'm looking around for ECT Sensor connectors and I'm going to go to local junkyards. Most likely they won't have a 6gc there so I'm HOPING that the L4 engine camry's have the same connectors. Anyone know?

If you got an 1.8L 7A-FE engine in your Celica - mechanic told me that overheating problem is pretty common with it... He suggested me that I replace the thermostat at the next service. Perhaps this might solve your future overheating problems.

If you got an 1.8L 7A-FE engine in your Celica - mechanic told me that overheating problem is pretty common with it... He suggested me that I replace the thermostat at the next service. Perhaps this might solve your future overheating problems. Don't know about the ECT connector though. I have the GT model with the 5sfe engine. My engine is not overheating at all. It's a "mis-communication" signal that's sent from the ECT to my dash that's "lying" what it reads. -------------------- |

Anyone know? I'm going to pick and pull this connector from a 97 Camry LE from a local junk yard sometime soon. I know the connector looks the same but we will have to see.

As far as I know even with the later 5SFE the temperature gauge sender and the engine coolant temperature sensor are different pieces.
You should also be able to test your temperature sensors with a multi-metre, a thermometer and a pot of water. |

Is it possible to ask where you got this information from? I need to replace it ASAP because my car isn't getting proper electrical ground because of it. Aight so I got the pigtails and I need to sodder or just put a wire nut. I was thinking of using a wire nut since it's easier but what worries me is how hot it gets under the hood. Does anyone know the rating temperature I should be looking for? I heard of people heat shrinking and that's what's recommended but I want to use a wire nut instead since it's easier but if it can't be helped then I guess I'll go with soddering and heat shrinking.
