New Paint Job, New Paint Job Options

[SIZE=7][FONT=Arial][COLOR=blue] I've owned my celica now for about a year, it's a teal 1996 GT and I love it, but I really would want to change the color to black. I went to a dealer today and they told me that they discourage a whole paint job because they cant reach placed like in the truck, the sides od the doors and under the hood, and so on. I was wondering if anyone here painted their car and how it turned out, where you got it done and how long you had it for and if anyone would discourage me form changing my cars color?! my car was also the teal color and i changed it to a custom blue and i just had the guy paint the trunk under the hood the door jams and it makes the car look so much cleaner if you don't it just looks tacky and cheap.

Wow man, your paint job looks amazing!!! Nice color!! But how long have you had it for? I was told that it would chip away after a year or so if i get my car re-painted... oh and where did you get it done?!

I also had my car repainted, it used to be black now its the color you see in my profile. I had the shop paint under the hood, the trunk and the door jambs too. I have had my paint job for just about a year and it still looks great.

celicakid, I've always loved your car/color (I'm looking at a VERY similar combination, same kit and a slightly darker blue) Very nice. If you don't mind me asking.. how much was that? (paint, or paint + install, whatever you did..)

Thanks a lot Hym3n. I installed the kit myself so that was free (although i wouldnt recomend it since it was a pain in the ass!) The paint ran me about a grand at a local body shop, but I know one of the kids that works there so he got me a good deal.

I had my car painted about 14 months ago from teal to Honda spa yellow pearl, and it's held up great so far. The door jams are painted, but under the hood unfortunately isn't.
