I am looking to change the color of my dial to match the color of my car. Has anybody done this or is there anybody who can do it...
Thanks, Preetham. |

Do you mean your gauge cluster? If so, there are plenty of people who have changed the color of theirs, including me. There's a how-to for this in the how-to articles section.

No the color of the lighting, the color of the dial in the guage clusters...

You mean the color of the needle? I think I've seen it done somewhere, but I don't remember where. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

color of the guage face/dial, not the needle..the dial/face where the numbers are painted on...the 3 circular dials...the rpm, speed n fuel ones...

Oh...I suppose you could paint them, but it'd be incredibly hard to mask off all the markings and everything. I think you'd be better off getting custom colored indiglo gauges from Speed Hut.

thnx coomer, i thought bout painting them, but there are too many small lines to mask out...does not make sense...i had spoken to SpeedHut earlier n asked them if they could make just the gauge face, they said that the only way they could change the color was if i get the entire assembly....
So i figured i might try drawing the gauge face on my computer. I could then try printing it on some film n stick it over my stock ones..... I looked at some companies offering just the gauge faces and they ask for close to 1 100 bucks, which sounds ridiculous to me... |

Yea man you'd be best off with aftermarket guages. Like coomer said, speedhut.com is a good place to go. I bought mine from speedhut.com and they've been great. Depending on what kind you get the whole face of the dial will light up or just the #'s will. They also come with a controller and in my case it allows me to gradually turn the brightness up or down. The controller also allows me to switch the color the dial lights up at night from blue to green. So they're worth the money. Can't wait to see it dude!

If you do go with the stick on film method, remember that the stock dials aren't the brightest at night when lit up and anything you put on top will obviously make them harder to see especially if its a darker color.
You would probably want to use white led bulbs* so the color of the dials is the same at night. You might get odd results with say, red film lit up with the standard green/yellow bulbs. *I'd recommend only using the inverted lens type which give off light in all directions like a regular bulb. -------------------- Facelift bumper-foglights-clear indicators, clear side repeaters, 16in O.Z alloys, stainless steel grill. Don't use LED bulbs to luminate your gauges... it doesn't work out.

Is there any reason why you can't use aftermarket gauges that are made to light up??
