so we were looking at the awd transmission and the 99 camry tranny next to each other and it appeared that it might be possible to take the lsd and components off of the e154f and put them on the non lsd e153. Get rid of the all wheel drive shtuff but use the housing and what not. I dont think this has been covered but sorry if it has.

nope you cant do that.

the AWD differential has a huge shaft in the middle of it that goes into the transfer case.

if you have the AWD trans, you can convert it to FWD, just buy the rear plate and the MR2 differential

why do i feel like that sounds a lot easier than it actually is lol. Has anyone here done that? I already have a 99 camry e153 for the swap so im good for now. Trying to sell the awd tranny but if you can go into more depth, maybe if i cant sell it ill attempt to convert it to fwd after im up and running.

The hard part in the fwd conversion is buying a torque wrench that will allow you to set the preload, and keeping track of parts during tear down.

The E154F has an open front differential. it' doenst have a LSD in the front so there would be no point. Why spend the time to convert the e154f to FWD when it has an open diff.

Lol if you had an ST205 LSD, you should sell it for 3grand (there are surely people who would gladly pay that much) and then buy yourself a nice fwd LSD.

I used to have BFG T/A Drag radials and those things would hook pretty decent, but they wouldnt last long enough on the street. I switched to nitto 555r's which were a happy medium.
