I've been working on my celi for the past few years. I spent my fair share of money on this dream of mine. Yet now I'm wondering how much more do I have to do to put this thing in a show and win something. I got the folding mirrors and the JDM tails, waiting for them now, put the booster spoiler on, did the whole DVD audio thing and soon the reapolstering. Did the neons, dropped the car, put on the kit, and tinted the glass. I'm starting to feel like I might never get it to the point that I want it at.

I just want to know what some of you guys did to your celi's to get them into a show. I'm not asking for a parts brake down but more like when you thought she was worthy and what kind of lengths you went to. Just need some inspiration and maybe some direction. Thanks in advance...

I think that your car is already very close to being show-worthy. That said, many sixth generation Celicas look similar. I'd say drop in that AE111 4A-GE and then enter some shows. smile.gif

Coomer is right your car is pretty darn good. What I THINK helps out a lot is a GOOD paint job. Adding things that will make the car stand out. And an engine swap is a great touch. If you really think about it our cars are almost NEVER seen in car shows. From looking at your sig if that what you have wax it up and you should be good. The judges will look at EVERY LITTLE DETAIL. Things that you won't even imagine. They check your springs, your bolts and screws, hinges, the little things are what get you the points. Check out some car magazines, I think Import Tuner had an issue not toolong ago that tells you what judges look for and how the grade you. I'lll try looking for it when i get home.

WINNING is very hard only cuz of the supra. About 90% of the time they win for BEST TOYOTA. My friends from a car club LOVE my car. The GT4 front end, 404 kit, 3sgte swap, custom interior, DVD player, drop, and rims. THey told me my car would definatly be in the running for a prize.

Also what i was told is that you have to go out to shows to really get noticed. Adding things every other show helps. Have NAME BRAND or LOTS of mods are probably the things that would help you.

Just my $0.02

winning small shows takes gaudy exterior/interior modifications, but winning at the big shows is all about whats under the hood. the shinnier the better wink.gif

ya to win the big shows u got to clean everything inside the wheel well, springs, brakes every where under the body kit the sreach it all. One of my boys is a judge and he says that they have to be anal about it all and being that the supra is in the toyota group it makes it hard but u can still win as long as u have a clean car. DONT try to stand out by putting a lime green paint job on ur car and things like that just keep it simple & clean.

Some how make them remeber ur car when they go in the back room like because of ur clean lines and nothing that sticks our of nowhere.

When i look at ur car it looks really good and different so it will stand out since i have only seen one 6th gen in a show once in a total of about 15-20 major shows.

Nice Looking car over all, I havent been to alot of shows by any means, but our "team" has a Little Acura Teggy that we show, just everything is color matched and the scheme goes together. As Far as mine goes I never showed it Nor was it ever show quality, But I could out glow any Mother in this Area. I dropped about 4-500$ into Glowing and I was the brightest i had ever scene ever. something you might consider dont know if glowing is your thing. I wanted to like be a Glow-off Car but my car was never that fancy enough, plus Neons arnt bright enough for me.

dont mean to sound rude or anything but um... ur car is all bolt on stuff. nothing special. anyone can spend money and have stuff bolted/molded on. be creative. think of something completely custom to do instead of what u have right now.

sorry to say, but ur celica is just another celica with a lip kit.

Here i am coming off all elitest and what not.. but....

Your car is not a means of an income... you shoudln't be building it to win trophies, The love affair with your car will cease as soon as you try to make it business. yes the car is your pallet and you ofcourse are Picasso... but remember most famous poets died very poor, or in poverty.. take it to shows to show off, if you make money consider yourself lucky.

Unless of course your racing...

Racing, you do not do to win money - its a perk... you race to feel the rush, to have a connection with road through your ride... you pour money and time into your car to go faster... the car is the means to the end....

as you can see i have a bias towards racing and i have no love or respect for the carpet queen. but ignore the last part of this post and pay close attention to the first paragraph....

I know I see quite a few, but then again there are about 10-15 6th gens I see around town on a regular basis. One of them even has a chameleon interior paint job, along with 2 RF HX2s, $5k worth of engine mods(7AFE, he got ripped off but it still has the money in it)... He'll be coming to PF.
There's only one person whose opinion I think of when doing things to my car, and that's my own.

you can make a car a show car but it wont always win. ARound here its very rare a 6 gen celica would ever win cuz we get beat out in the Toyota categories by newer celicas or supras!

Just my 2 cents

The truth is I'm not trying to win money, I just wanted to have alittle more fun with my celi than just driving to the local clubs and hanging out. As for the bolt comment, I agree it is for the most part plug and play but I do have a custom fiber glass enclosure that will mold to the rear of the trunk being made right now. I was hoping it will be my claim to fame. Interior has some neon work that I'm doing myself in the works and the engine swap with pillar guage pod is a near future mod, I'm chasing an engine down.

I didn't mean to come off like I was trying to make a money car. My intent was to get a feel for what it took to prepare a car for a show so that I wouldn't be wasting my time and effort. In the end, its my ride and I'm just glad to have her.

Man you have a nice car, you dont need some judges at a crappy contest to tell you that. tongue.gif And like said above, theres always gonna be some crazy supra or 7g there that will be tubbed right out. Doesnt hurt to join and have a good time even if you dont win.
