Hello,

I am looking to finally drop in my engine and transmission. I have a 94 celica with a 99 Solara E153 transmission and a 5S-GTE engine. I am looking to get custom mounts made up and possibly a custom cross bar. I would like solid engine mounts, I’m not looking for poly mounts and looking to put down close to 800WHP. What are my options? I remember seeing the hard target celica in NJ years ago and he had a custom timing belt side mount that was shaped like a triangle and hung the engine and all the other mounts were solid. I am looking for a solution similar to that. This is going to by a 85% drag car 15% street. So I can care less about vibrations. I searched thru 15 pages of post and gave up so now I’m asking.

Thanks,
Eazy

so why dont you want to get poly inserts? thats going to be a much much cheaper option over having solid mounts fabbed up.. oh and id like to see how you plan on making 800WHP out of a 5S. please list your "mods"

cheap is expensive, and poly is not an option! so do you know someone who has mounts or can fab them up? This topic is not about my setup, but to show what im looking for. you can search my post for my build and see how im going to make the power. Thanks for your input but more info on where to get mounts or who has made them in the past will be very helpful.

Thanks,
Eazy

Solid mounts should be easy to fab.... they are a hell of a lot easier to make than poly. It's just metal, any local machine shop should be able to make them.

He'll just get some thick ass steel and make them yourself.

That said, I agree with smaay. Why is poly not an option? I have 750 whp in the rx7 with poly mounts and no problems. That's with only 3 mounts versus the 4 that are in the celica.

there is nothing to agree with, its what i want done.. so in the end.. are you guys telling me that there is nobody on this site that made or know of anyone who makes solid mounts for this car? if not then i will get them made but that will cost more. i figured if it was already done then it will be easy to order vs doing RnD/having someone make it from scratch then fitting/adjusting/fitting....

I doubt anyone who has been on this site, has had the need to go for full solid mounts. Most everyone finds the polyurethane acceptable for their application, especially a 5s. Youd more likely find solid mounts being used on a 3SGTE

But yeah, you are going to have to pioneer this one out man. For the side mounts I cant imagine it would be that hard to do. There are plenty Fab Shops in NY (as I am sure you are aware) that would be more than capable to perform this task

good luck

BTW - Hardtarget's car was a full drag car with the engine mounted longi rather than tranverse IIRC. So yeah - good luck with that. Making them will be fairly simple tho.

Wanna link us to this project? I'd like to see your plans/progress. EDIT* NVM found it myself

Actually.. Before it was RWD, it had a FWD 3S-GTE Gen 2 that went 9.60 in FL at a test and tune, he raced the HKS drag Celica and won but didnt take the title as the worlds fastest FWD Celica because it was a test and tune event. he ran a 9.80 in Englishtown when I was there years ago. I actually spoke to Luis in person and saw the setup with the mounts when it was FWD. Later on if I remember they swapped to a 3TC engine, which was RWD then went back to a 3S (5S-GTE) based engine RWD.

^those aren't solid engine mounts though...

solid engine mount is literally a metal bracket....for the 6gc it would have to be custom fabricated.

I don't even wanna think about installing the rear mount on the tranny/crossmember with a solid mount LOL - I HATE that mount mad.gif
Good luck with the search and be sure to link it back here if you find anything. Someone in the future will want these I'm sure.
