I just got mine and all I have to say is Quality, the quality and durability of MTX puts them in my opinion into one to of the top postitions as manufacturers of Subs and Amps.

One of the best "budget" woofers. They're loud and reliable....gotta give 'em that. Not suitable for a system I'd build (sq systems with multiple 6 or 8's and a 10 to back 'em up), but if you want low hard thump they'll do it damn well and continue to do so for a long time.

cons: poor sound quality, especially when played loud. Alpine (type R), JL (W0-6, no v2's or w7{both v2 and w7 CAN be very good for sq, but it's hard, you've gotta be a pro easy to overwhelm the system}), and obviosly focal and Diamond, trounce them in this category (but you'll pay a price)

I'm not sure what u mean by poor sound quality, even at high volumes my bass is always clean and on point.

I listen to a lot of jazz, and ska. When cranked a fast slap-bass will distort the MTX (or most woofers under $400) . Especially compared to my old set up. 4 Eclipse 8" woofers with Denon Amps.

I have never been impressed by any MTX system other than one useing the RFLs and thats an all out SPL setup. In my opinion MTX subs sound sloppy at high volumes but i have never heard there subs in a very nice install (it was always some prefab box and was installed at CC Roadshop). I think there are better subs out there for the money (elemental designs Kx series).

I prefer my barics, but mtx isnt a bad sub for the money. Some of my friends have used them. If you really want a good sub @ a low price i'd say go with the MA audio subs. I think they hold 600 watts continuous, but im not sure of the model number. JL w-series subs are awesome too. The w0s - w3s aren't too pricey and they hit really good. smile.gif

Get you a really good amp and some cheap entry level subs them save some money and get you a good sub I like Alpine Type-Rs. I have a friend that is a dealer let me know what you need and I will see what I can do.
