19's is really pushing it with a lowered car, i would rub if I took a turn to hard with 17''. Less tire is going to be able to fit on a 19 so ur goign to be more prone to flats or worse, bending the rim on a bad pothole.

i wouldnt go with more than an 18". I *almost* wish i would have gone with 17's. be sure to get a really low pro tire if you go with anything wider than than a +35 offset as well.

I agree anything bigger that 17" is pushing and a few of things happen two are metioned above and the third is that tires get way to expensive. wink.gif

17" is the best. It gives you the larger custom look without all the problems. When you go low profile the tires tend to blow and go flat pretty regular.

i know I will be going with 17" but that's cause I'm not going to get a body kit. if you get a kit get 18" if not stick with 17". while 19" will work they look dumb as hell unless you do a lot of custom work to lower your car on top of them.

hmmm...I think my car looks far from "dumb as hell". I have 19x8 up front and 19x9 in rears. And I only have a 1.8inch lowering springs and nothing rubs...

Your car looks awesome. Best pic I've seen yet of rims on a 6g.

I have 18s and never had a flat and i run low pros. I love the look of an 18. Im really glad i dont have 17s. My car is only lowered an inch and a quarter so an 18 takes care of that wheel gap a bit more

"dumb as hell" is pretty harsh for an opinion, but I guess your taste is your taste. GT-4, your car is my new official background for awhile, until something hotter comes up, which I highly doubt for awhile.

Well, what about performance wise.. Wouldn't 18" and 19" be a bit heavier than 17"? I used to be on a Honda forum before I got the Celica, and the general opinion over there was that anything above 17" really started to drop the performance. That was on Civics though.. But still.

Rubbing isn't all to take into consideration when choosing rim size.

Well, I'm still interested to see if anyone have any opinions about the performance on 18/19" compared to 17" or even smaller 16"/15" rims smile.gif

For performance, I'd probably go with a lightweight 16" wheel.

i agree with vangsta, if you're going to be sporting 18" or 19" (or even 17") rims you probably shouldn't plan on going too crazy. if you like to run your car but still want large rims just keep your stok rims and put them on before you do any running, those are the best rims (for their price--nothing--) for running at the track anyway.

I had 18" rims on my old MKII GTi. They had the ****tiest ride ever. Every little bump in the road your ass felt with force, mainly because of the low, low profile. I like my 16" rims on my Celica. Its nice to have some 16X8 road huggers. When I move on up, im only going to 18" tops. If you were to move up to 18" rims, how wide could you get them? 7.5"?

18" look nice but not anywhere as good looking.
