After longish drives my coolant overflows. Temp gauge sits exactly in the middle but as soon as I park after a drive it overflows. It could be my radiator but I'm not 100% sure. Thermostat was replaced only a few months ago, and my cap was replaced at the same time. Any other ideas as to what it could be?

Internal leak, exhaust gases goes into the coolant line either through head gasket or cracked cylinder head.

My cylinder head had cracks so the exhaust gases escape in the cooling system. -------------------- God made man....

Easy way to find out is to do a compression check.

Took it in to my mechanic. Hopefully it wont be a cracked cylinder head, but I wont be surprised if it is.

is it a 5S or 7A? i have a good rebuilt 7A-FE head that I rebuilt. it has all new valve seal gaskets, i cleaned and lapped all the valves. checked the clearances. its ready to be installed.

I just had a thought. When the thermostat was replaced, was the cooling system burped? I would say to try burping it now, but you already took it to the mechanic.

Good news!! Apparently the radiator cap I bought was faulty and it just needed a new one. That's what I get for buying cheap parts.

yup was just about to say, its usually a problem with the radiator cap or head gasket leaking. just did a radiator cap fix a few months ago because of overflow. those gaskets tend to thin out over time and get smushed and cannot sustain the right pressure.
