I wouldn't pick any of those.... JL Audio is my favorite. They sound the best of any I've heard. The W3 is a great Subwoofer but if you have the money the W7 will blow it out of the water. But if I had to choose I'd go with the Rockford Fosgate Power series especially the HX2 or if you have the money the TeamRF series. Third place would have to be Kicker. Memphis also makes some really loud Subs but I don't like the way they sound.

I love my Audiobahn, I wouldn't want any other sub.

Out of those subs in the poll I'd probably go with Kickers...the Comp VR round ones that are fairly cheap are good subs for the money. Rockford typically has bad SQ and is overpriced in my opinion. Kicker's Comp VR subs are alright for the money, but their square subs never have good SQ when I hear them, and are really expensive. MTX subs aren't for me, as their SQ isn't very good. I haven't heard much about Phoenix Gold subs, except that they're so-so for the price. My old Audiobahn sub's voice coil lead broke after a couple months of use, and the SQ is just horrible on it, especially when compared to the ID10s I was running for a while. I've yet to hear an Audiobahn sub with good SQ.

Many of those subs will work fine for you if you're not too concerned about SQ, but if you are, then I'd suggest something else. Are you into SPL, SQ, or both?

It depends solely on what you want them for....if you want to rattle the neighbors house get the Rocks. If you want SQ, check out some Alpine or JL W3, or 6 (W6v2 does a good job of balancing SQ and SPL for a reasonable price)

What kind of Alpines do you think have good SQ? I've heard Type-S and Type-R subs from Alpine, and neither had great SQ.

Best is L7s for sound/price/volume. I really love mine. But i would have to say that the Alpine TypeRs are really nice subwoofers. My experience with rockfords havent been very good. I've heard both positive and negetave things about audiobahn.

There are many good brands of car audio equipment. All of the ones that u have listed are good, but i have tried almost all of these brands at one time or another and i would recommend my kicker l7's over any speaker on the market. The only other speaker that i would recommend if you want a truly awesome system is the jl w7. im not putting down other brands/subs, just telling you from experience that these two will outperform any speaker on the market. the audiobahn flame q's would be my third choice, mostly b/c of looks, but they also sound good and id put memphis audio subs in @ a close 4th.

The type-R are good when set up properly (though most things are).....to be honest the kicker set up might be better but I'm really biased against them. It's completely groundless though.

Also, if you're looking for the best, look at the Image Dynamics IDMAX and Elemental Designs a-series. I'd put those two subs in the number two position right under the W7. wink.gif

Anyone ever notice that with the stock sound system (I don't know what I have, speaker-wise besides stock, i dont know the #..I think 6...) is so CLEAR when standing outside the car? Mine is at least. I want to get an affordable sub or pair of subs and a new head unit, and new speakers in the future, I want something that can cater to all types of music, low and high bass. I just don't want it to be so ghetto you can hear it thumping half-way across the town. I just want the all-around sub..but I have no experience with sound systems or brands. I don't need something to win competitions, just something to please me while driving...a bit of showoff-ness is ok.

if i was going pure spl i would opt for the new X12 from kicker or just plain the SOLOX from kicker. They are so amazing so loud. they do cost money dont get me wrong. if ur on a budget and want an all around sub then the the Comp VR would be nice. I have never liked rockford, and audiobahn take way to long to break in and are super power hungry. I do installs at dashboard electronics when i am back home, they are in the process of puting 2 SOLOXs in an expedition.

i almost forgot....the new Brahma subs by adire are awesome. SPL for them beats anything. They arent common and are expensive, but they hit soooooo hard. smile.gif If you can find/afford them go for it, but they are kinda an off the wall suggestion. If your not lookin for somethin craazy like this, then my earlier suggestions still stand.

Digital Designs have some bad stuff too, but are pretty expensive and not common by any means.

I was trying to stay within the list...but the IDMAX and the Brahma are AWESOME!!!! I almost wished I was into SPL sometimes when I'm riding with someone with those wink.gif . If you're looking for goot SQ for a low(ish) price, a lot of places seem to be clearing out thier Eclipse Subwoofers, if you can find the 88 series whatever isn't the "ti" edition sounds nicer, while the TI hits harder.

Yes, Brahmas are awesome as well, from what I've read. I've never heard one though. Also, Adire's Shiva, at $125 MSRP, is an excellent value for a sub with a good combination of SQ and SPL.

I have been into car audio for a few years and let me say that L7s are but way over priced audiobaun in the way to go, they are loud and clean. For the money there isn't any better.

All the ones mention are great subs so what ever you choose you system will sound great.

right now i have a cheap little setup, 2 kenwood w2505's and a crizzapy jensen 720w amp... soon though im switching over to a all RF setup, subs and two amps, one for the subs and a 4chan one for my 4 infinity kappa's that i have inside.... they can take 75w RMS and my headunit is only pushing out 22w RMS... only getting all rockford becuase i can get it MAD cheap where i work... and im really stereo dumb, so whats the difference between SQ and SPL?

SQ= Sound quality sealed boxes mostly. not as high powered but CLEAN power (Diamond, Pheonix Ti, Zapco type amps) smaller woofers 6,8's 10's, and the ever fun 5 3/4 (Focal 5Ws...drool) Takes lots of time and equalization and time correction but is WELL worth it.

SPL= Sound pressure level, decibles....THUMP! Big woofers...HUGE SURROUNDS (the rubber/foam that connects the cone to the frame), lots of power. 100's of pounds of sound deadener needed wink.gif

I just got a 10" Polk Momo subwoofer, powered by a 300 watt x 1 bridged Blaupunkt amp. Compared to all the Alpines and MTX and other more common brands ive heard, these handle the power you send to them extremely well, and dont distort no matter how loud you turn up the volume. Its clean and punchy as all hell, and keeps its composure very well in all sorta of music....for SQ i think it would be hard to beat.

I've found that it compliments my 8 speaker stock setup and headunit very well, and gives me just the right ammunt of bass. It might not have the massive thump of something geared towards maximum SPL's, but i think its a great setup for the money i paid. smile.gif

i'm lovin' my kicker L7 10's i found that as long as you can adjust your sub gain either through a remote to the amp or through sub out on the deck they sound pretty good, soas they don't over power the rest of the music, they sound pretty good, and when I want to send all 1500 watts to them I can. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I'm in no way an expert but that's my opinion.

Rockford Fosgate HX2's are some of the best subs out there. Theres NO question about that.
