I was just taking a gander at the article on installing coilover/springs and a question arose in my mind. If I want to lower my car about 1"-2" which would be my best option? Go with the coilover kit, or use lowering springs. I want to do this in the next couple of months and I would really apreciate some input. Thanks

Do you want to be able to pick/change spring rates? That and the ability to change right height and therefore corner weights are the only differences between lowering springs and coilovers.

i recomend springs. when i revamp my suspension i'm goin to get some eibachs and toss my gorund controls. i just dont need to go lower than 2" or be able to adjust my height.

Why would you waste the money on getting springs? Just adjust you GC's to the height you want and leave it. They already come with eibach springs.. |

Because GCs are $400 and springs are much cheaper. Some people don't care that much about suspension.

not to mention grounc controls have a worse ride due to a diff spring/spring rate as well as make notorious "popping noises". also i can se these and mabe make $50 and still give a fellow 6th genner a great deal on The best set of affordable coilovers for our car.

Worse ride or better handling? We all have our opinions. My spring rates are over 50% higher than what GC 'recommends' to the average joe buying coilovers to lower their car (probably the springs that most of you have). The car isn't bad on the highway, but kinda sucks around the ****ty roads of dallas. But man does it turn. It pulls over 1g on street tires. The popping noises are fixable. True, they're not for everybody, but they have their advantages. This post has been edited by SpedToe169: Jan 28, 2004 - 10:54 AM |

you lower your car and get stiffer suspension, the ride is gonna be ****. You might as well be able to rip around corners, instead of having a ****ty ride and turn a little faster.

oh i completyl agree with you! the pop is fixable, but it requires maintence every 3 months like we disucssed and thats not practical for me. all and all they arent practical for ME! as my every day daily driver. I loved the way they handle though! cormudgen |
