I rebuilt my gen ii 3sgte over the fall. New Toyota oem gaskets, machine work, new turbo etc. assembled it with engine lube and ran Mobil conventional 10-30 for the first 1500 miles. I recently did a Mobil synthetic 10-30 oil change and oil has been leaking from I between the engine and Trans (very sizable about of oil leaks when car is running). What caused this leakage? I would think if the gasket was seated incorrectly it would leak from day one. Any input is appreciated!

Possibility that crankcase pressure was the cause? Maybe I should do a catch can?

A catch can doesn't relieve pressure. It just catches the oil that comes out and prevents it from going back into your intake, which can sometimes cause the car to smoke on hard acceleration.

Anyway, glad you figured it out! Hope to see the car again in person sometime soon!

a nice breather filter and a cheap catchcan you can dump into something so you dont spill oil and water everywhere

Get the Timkin seal from autozone. The borg-warner or whatever brand has a lip sort of like a dust seal on it that makes it hard to hammer in. Especially on the passenger side!

I ended up buying Toyota oem axle seals... I work at a dealership. I did buy a catch can too. I decided on a mishimoto baffled can. It should be here Friday.
