Right. wasn't sure if I should open a thread for this but I would love to hear the opinions of other fellow 6gc'ers.

I'm looking to paint my interior trim again. (it is red. centre console vinyl wrapped brushed aluminium) any suggestions or pics etc of what colour I should do it? or what y'all think would suit best?

I have a black car with red leathers, red footwell lights and red led dash etc and a polished gear knob (soon). so lookin for a diff colour trim. was leaning towards thunder grey.

will choose the color that gets recommended most!

What happens if we all recommend pink? smile.gif

Just go with what you like, not what people like.
Personally I don't like the painted plastic interior to match the body paint. Black is nice, so is grey.

I've also never really been a fan of the painted interiors but I have thought about doing grey / silver. I have something else in mind for my interior through.

And I've been thinking of doing hydrographics with my interior

is there a colour code for that grey? that looks brilliant. has more of a satin look to it?

box u got any pics? think black would go nicely with your red exterior tho. my car is pretty much all black lol need that bit of colour to break up the interior.

i dont like carbon fibre wrap. i have a bit of it in the car. it looks good but dont wanna cover all parts unless im skinning it but thats too over the budget for me.

grey is lookin good at the moment. suprised i aint got no weird color suggestions yet lol a friend of mine suggested flip paint and chrome but think thats too OTT. richee let me know a colour code if you can or something very close to it.

I went for the black/white color scheme, I understand why not everyone likes this and most of people would say it's too much, but I like it. Here's a feeler:

i had a very similar interior on my last GT (black white theme) i was a big fan of it but in my experience it was so hard to keep clean!

Thanks. tongue.gif Yeah, I wanted something subtle. Something that'd stick out more and still be on the classy side would be a medium-dark silver.

The black base with a darker metal looks sharp! I like seeing how people are paying more attention to customizing interiors. I've always changed my cars' environment since the early 90's. Logically, we spend more time seeing our car from the inside, and suiting our own desires should have importance over what everyone else sees.

If you know what you're doing it turns out nice and holds just fine, the secret is in preparation and using the proper primer, paint, and clear.

iv thought about doing alloy wheels with hydro graphics but im really not sure how well it would hold up. its too expensive to try and then **** it up lol but graphic possibilites are endless with them tho! dont you think our interior pieces are too "thin"/not enuff surface space to do stuff like that?

I've had red painted interior, woodgrain wrap and now carbon fiber wrap.

+1 for CF..

mines original 3m black cf.. I'm a fan of complimenting colors vs contrasting colors. When i had mine in red it became rough to look at after awhile.

Oh ok yeah ive seen a few of my mates cars where they painted the interior parts and its let go and smudges. they must of used crap paint.

But yeah ive always kept my interior black original colour. looks mean when you shine the black interior up.

every ones different tho

im a huge fan of contrasting colours but since my car is mainly black and red i thought i would add a third as an accent colour. and you are right the red has become a little rough to look at lol that cf wrap looks good. how is it holding up? have u had it for long? my centre console is wrapped in brushed aluminium atm. looks good but it has that "fake shiny" look to it if u know what i mean hence why i want a paint job. maybe a satin finish

Ive never been a fan of carbon viny. Other then the 4D carbon from china whicb isnt conformable, none looks real.
Hyreodipping is worse. Ive seen hundreads and only ever seen one good print which looks like real carbon.
Nothing beats the real deal.

Kind of makes you wonder. The 3M vinyl isn't necessarily cheap, probably real carbon fiber wouldn't be too much. Since it's not structural you could get away with lower grades as long as it still looked good.

agree but im sure carbon cloth is thicker than vinyl wrap. woudnt it stop the trim from fitting back in place properly? im gonna look into cf skinning n see how much it will cost to have som1 do it for me or to buy kits

Was messing with some fiberglass cloth yesterday and it's fairly thin, I'd imagine carbon fiber wouldn't be any thicker. It's thinner than the good vinyl, so I'd imagine it'd be easier to worth with in that regard.

Prices for a decent skinning kit start at about £45 tho. but theres enough carbon cloth jus to maybe cover the centre console trim properly. includes resin n all. but if it is thin I will keep that in mind as spray painting will cost around 50ish

I just looked earlier and actual carbon fiber cloth is a good bit cheaper than the 3M 1080 vinyl. At least that's the case with buying off the U.S. eBay site. One of the carbon fiber cloths I found was a 36" x 50" square for $32 OBO plus shipping, was .009" thick as well. I'd imagine would be much easier to work with than vinyl and it's actually cheaper. If I go to redo interior again I'm considering it.

That's a really good price. I might have to start buying from US. everything here is a ripoff lol
