NEW PRICE -- $6000 OBO

The time has come to part ways with my 6GC. Many of you know me from a few years back. I've been gone from the site for a while but still have my car. Sadly, as I've grown older, I've found myself enjoying the car less and less, and finally have come to the realization that I've simply outgrown the car.

The car is a 99 GT with ~165K miles on it. I purchased it in July of 2005 with 114K miles on it, used it as a daily for a year, then sent it off to Dr. Tweak for a 2nd Gen 3S-GTE swap. The swap was done with 135K miles on the car. Since the swap was completed in July of 2006 there has only been 30K miles put on it, MOST of which came between 2006 and 2008. In late 2008 an accident happened that ended up putting the car as you see now, with the shaved handles, blended in DCW duckbill spoiler, and custom paint. After the car was finished with all the new fixings in May of 2009, it's only seen about 10K miles worth of use. I drove it daily last year for about 6 months over spring/summer/fall, and it's been driven once since.

About the car and the modifications:

Performance Stuff:
2nd Gen 3S-GTE (all new seals/timing belt installed when swap was done)
Spec 3S-5S Hybrid Stage II Clutch
Stock S54 5 Speed Trans
Custom FMIC Setup
Relocated AFM to under battery, 3" intake tube from AFM to turbo
Custom plug and play wiring extension for AFM (made by me)
HKS SSQV Blow Off Valve
GReddy Profec Spec-B Electronic Boost Controller
Perfect Power SMT6 piggyback ECU
Ebay Downpipe
CUSTOM FABRICATED 3" Exhaust w/Magnaflow Resonator and Muffler
TRD Quick Shifter with TRD Shift Knob

Interior:
Kenwood DDX-812 7" DVD system
Red/Black Carbon fiber accents (mostly stick on pieces, couple of custom wrapped pieces I did myself)
DCW Gauge Cluster Cover with smoked glass -- 2nd one ever made after Dustin Brown's.
DCW Triple Gauge Pod
Autometer Nexus Boost/Vac, Oil Pressure, and Oil Temp Gauges ($1K in gauges/controller)
Doggy E-Brake Boot w/red stitching
Doggy Shift Boot w/red Stitching
Doggy Armrest Cover w/red Stitching and custom Red "Devil Horn Toyota" Logo embroidered on it.
JDM Aluminum Door Sills

Exterior
Custom Paint. Base red with copper pearl metallic clear coat mixed in.
Shaved Door Handles
Projector Headlights and Highs (lows have been modified for flat cutoff)
Shaved front turn signals, using markers in Projector lamps for turns
Black Devil Horn Toyota Logo's from Likwid Art
Tenzo R DC5 18x8 Wheels with GOOD Nitto NeoGen 225/40-18 tires
Red Powdercoated Brake Calipers all the way around with Napa rotors and EBC Redstuff Pads
Tein S-Tech Springs (LEGIT, bought from shop that did the exhaust)
JDM Tail Lights
Molded in DCW Duckbill Spoiler
DCW SSIII Splitters front and rear
DDM Tuning 55W HID in the projectors

The Bad (Keep in mind that I'm VERY critical of my car/work): The front splitters are rough. Both have been cracked and repaired/refinished, but it shows. They look good and fine until you get up on them.

There is a scratch in the front right fender that I filled as best as possible, and there are normal chips here and there from daily driving (one on the drivers mirror and one on the passenger high beam area right by the lamp come to mind, but both have been filled with paint). The paint on the car is still VERY VERY good and it still turns heads everywhere.

The wheels have all had a tiny bit of rash on them but it's painted over and you can't see it unless you're really looking for it.

Shocks are due for replacement as they rattle a bit, but I've not done it because I kept intending to do coilovers.

Oil leak that leaves a few drops where you park, I believe from the pan.

Underside dirty with old oil residue, there was a crack in the soft return line from the turbo and it was sending just enough out to cover everything.

*Edit* Cruise lever is broken and currently removed. Looking for a replacement, but it's a hard find.

Right now, things I'm doing or will be doing unless the car sells quickly.

Currently has a new radiator going in it. Car will be running again by the end of this week (was moving to a twin core full aluminum, but backed off of that due to extreme clearance issues caused by the thickness). This WILL be completed this week.

I have a set of GT4 front calipers I've been meaning to install forever. I'm hoping to get to this within the next few weeks. On or off, they will be sold with the car either way.

Trying to get to doing the shocks but it's not a necessity.

The car will come with a binder I've kept with ever receipt for everything I've put into it. Let's just say that the 3" binder is FULL, and total is in excess of $25K invested into the car AFTER the purchase price of $7500 in 2005. Everything is documented. Also, the 2010 6GC.Net Calendar will be included, as this car was in it and was also the cover car. She's solid as a rock. Zero rust on the rockers or anywhere else. It's a head turner, and though I still run with a primarily domestic sports/muscle car crowd, they all enjoy the car when I bring it out. Motor is solid, made 250 WHP/260 WTQ when the swap was done. I just don't want to invest more to try to make it faster. I'm selling because the money here is going to go towards a buyback of the twin turbo 99 Corvette I was forced into selling in 2010.

Pricing is hard. There's a LOT of money invested, and yes, I do realize you don't recoup money invested in modifying cars. I will NOT take a total bath on the car either though. I'm going to start the price as asking a negotiable $9000. I have a bottom dollar in mind, so don't be afraid to talk to me about it.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone here for letting me be a part of this community. I've met a lot of great people, seen a lot of beautiful cars, and really enjoyed my time here. Who knows, I may be back (want to RWD and 5.3LS convert a 6th Gen......that would be fun).......

Pictures:

Car is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Is currently unregistered, but that may change shortly. If you don't like my price, please don't comment. The car is worth every penny of my bottom dollar if not more. I would be willing to meet a purchaser halfway depending on distance. I trust this car to take ANY road trip also. It's been literally one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned.

Do want. Hate to see you sell it. At least it'll go to an enthusiast. Good luck with the sale!

FYI folks, it's "almost" running again. I had to redo a section of the intercooler piping anyway, and am waiting on one piece to come in.

Forgot to mention that it's also got a whalbro fuel pump in it.....and there's other stuff I'm forgetting I'm sure.

Probably going to order the stuff needed and make these GT4 brakes fit on it within the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned there.

I've loved your car from the time I saw it come home from the Dr. I've just recently got back onto the 6gc forum, although I still drive (almost daily) a 94ST with nearly 300k. I start a new job tomorrow and i'm on the hunt for something nice / good looking / and reliable. How's the gas mileage when you keep your foot out of it?

Lol, definitely won't be parting. I would have to part myself out before stripping down something I've put so much effort into. Thanks for the words!

Weird, both of your posts showed up today. Odd. I check this thread daily and never saw your posts until today.

In answer to your question, IF I keep my foot out of it, I'll get 330 miles, and if I REALLY baby it, up to 350 miles out of a fill up. So around 24-25 MPG. IF I start having fun, that'll drop to about 300 miles on a tank or about 22 MPG. Never gotten less than that.

Everyone, I'll throw this out there on this site, just for some incentive. My bottom "I'm going no less" dollar is $7500 which is a steal for this car. The $9K asking is just a high starter for some wiggle room to get to the bottom dollar for me. But I'm just laying that out there for you all here.

Probably going to do an ebay ad (not auction) in a couple weeks or so.

Come on guys, $7500 drives it home. Or toss me a reasonable offer, you never know. Someone has got to be interested in it.

If you still have it when I get my fall bonus, I may want it.

I've got so many now, but would love this one too. Maybe I should just post all my cars to the FS thread, and see if I can generate the funds necessary for the upgrade.

Car still available. Looks to be a little over 600 miles, about a 9 hour or so drive according to Google Maps.

Car looks nice and might work for me; could fly and drive back. BUT. . . have to pass this through the CEO's office first to check on availability of cash. Get back to you.

CEO turned me down flatly at your offering price. Boy am I disappointed; that is one nice car you have for sale, it's priced right, and I was already imagining myself driving it home. Bummer! She just doesn't understand.

I'd almost consider a trade for the Vette. I have a soft spot for LT1 Vette's seeing as how I co-own and founded LTxTech.com. And it being an M6 only helps..........biggrin.gif

Pass on the miata though. My 6'3" self don't fit those too nicely, lol.

And in other news, FINALLY I have a good radiator in the Celica. Tool 3 attempts total but I got a good one, no issues. Car is ready to go folks.

It's ALIVE!!!!! After 6 months, one of the twin core full aluminum radiators, and 4 stock replacement (one leaky at core to upper tank, one bent, one had bad ECT threads, #4 was good), she's finally running and alive!!!!

Someone buy her please. She needs a better home where she'll get the attention she deserves.

Video walkaround, cold start, etc.

http://youtu.be/EvZg5PlSr7k

I LOVE how the exhaust causes the video to wave after it starts (cell phone video).

She's coming out this weekend to Cars and Coffee in Fort Wayne. First time I've taken the car out since April sadly.

Beautiful car man. Love the paint. That's the same color I'm painting my 22B clone. 7,500 is a freaking steal. Wish I had more car fund money.

Thanks! I just wish someone could come up with the money.

FYI people, PLEASE quit asking me if I'll sell this or that off the car separately. I am not parting ANYTHING out off the car separate.

You never know. I don't expect it to sell in the dead of winter, but I have to keep trying.

And to reiterate. I AM NOT PARTING A SINGLE ITEM OFF OF THE CAR, PLEASE QUIT ASKING, ESPECIALLY ABOUT THE TRD SHIFTER.

I keep coming back here and by now I have to admit it's a nice shade of red actually.

Everyone here is broke or in a Supra though, parting out would increase the odds of selling as you could lower the price with each part sold. If it were me I'd give eBay a few tries and then would consider a mild part out if you can't sell it whole on eBay for what you want. Just something to think about anyway. Yes in actuality it's worth every penny and then some, but finding someone that'd choose a FWD car over a LS car or the like will be hard. Hell you're selling it to get back a Corvette, I rest my case. tongue.gif Anyhow best of luck again, maybe someone will buy it soon as a Xmas gift or the like.

There's nothing to part out though. If I start pulling parts off the car I'm left trying to sell a horribly incomplete vehicle. Not gonna happen. I know its a hard sell given the demographics of the typical 6th Gen owner/enthusiast (no offense meant to anyone at all), and I'm not hard pressed to sell it either. Would I like to see it go soon? Sure. Will it break me? Nope.

I understand, I'd hate to part out the pieces of the car I worked hard to put together and then not be able to sell it still. Then you're worse off than you were to begin with. I'd still give eBay a shot though as you'll greatly increase the potential buyers, do it as a Buy It Now Or Best Offer with an instant deposit required so that way no jerks get you stuck with fees out of your own pocket.

When I was buying my car (Around 1200 miles away from memory) the shipping was too expensive so I flew down ($100) and drove it back over a couple of days (Fuel + $60-100/night motels). Where there's a will there's a way!

Can't believe this hasn't sold... as a lump sum of cash it isn't cheap, but when you consider that you can easily spend $3-5k on a basket case of a 3S swap that doesn't run right and has dodgy paint this car is quite good value...... And TRD shifter tongue.gif

I'm curious where you guys are getting your shipping estimates. Granted it was a decade ago, but I had a car I purchased shipped from Oregon to New Jersey and it only cost me $1K. IN to TX should be no more than $600-700 max I'd think. Or fly in, I can pick you up at the airport (Indianapolis is the cheapest closest to me), and the car is solid for a road trip.

I'll probably put it on ebay here soon, been meaning to do that. Kind of have my eye on something (low mile 96 LT4 CE Corvette for DIRT, and I mean DIRT cheap) to tide me over for a while and this selling would go a LONG way towards that.

My step-dad recently had a Corvair shipped from somewhere up north for around $500 to here. Though he bought a second one in Texas and everyone wanted $1,000 or more, so he just went and got it himself. Some companies charge more for cars that won't run, or if they're too low, etc... and anything else that causes hassle. Really anyone would be better off buying a one-way ticket and driving it back home. With fuel being as cheap as it is now this would be the time, make a road trip out of it even.

That would be a concern if mine was to be shipped. With the SSIII splitters and S-Tech springs it loses a lot of clearance.

But again, car is solid for a road trip. One way tickets are cheap!

Exactly, could probably fly out and drive it home for just a few hundred. That or you could do a rental that it doesn't matter which of their locations you drop it back off. Definitely some cheaper alternatives to shipping, plus you don't have to worry about some gorilla messing it up.

Man oh man I would've totally bought this bad boy a few months ago. Wish I discovered 6gc.net before buying my 6gc haha. I got my car 100% stock, drove clear to Tennessee (over 1k mile trip) for mine and was ordering parts for it all the way home. I spent like 6200$ just in THAT day and my car isn't even swapped yet haha. Ordered TRD springs, kyb g2 struts, all new mounts, injen intake, 0 gaurge big 3 upgrade wire, 250$ battery to run sub's, alpine power pack amp, nvx components 6.5 and nvx coaxils, 12 inch sub nvxs top of the line forget what its called, alpine monoblock amp, nvx 4 gauge wiring kit and pioneer double din touch screen the 22 watt ems one the higher end pioneer not the junk 14rms/2v out puts. haha. I spent a **** ton plus paid 3000 for my Celica. So spent 3200 out of pocket just on the way home. I mean I had 12 hours to kill.

Looks like I've likely managed to get a new set of front splitters so car should be sold with them back on and pretty closely color matched as I will be having them professionally refinished and there's a HOK paint that's VERY VERY close to the mixture on the car. So she should be whole again.

Again $6000 or best offer. I really need this to go, my opportunity to get my twin turbo Corvette back is NOW and not for long as the current owner is finalizing a deal on a newish CTSV and he needs to move the Vette to get it. I do NOT want to lose my opportunity to get my car back.

I'm surprised no one has jumped on it yet, it's a great price for a great car. I really can't think of any FWD car that could beat it, especially for the money. Have you tried posting in general import groups? Surely someone out there would want it.

I thought about it, but I'm not really a member of any of the import groups, and I don't want to be "that guy" who joins simply to sell a car. I don't allow it on the forum I own/run and don't want to do it to someone else's group/forum. I'm honestly surprised it's not been jumped on either. You would have to spend at least 15K to replicate this car, and finding a good base to start with becoming harder and harder without finding rust, dents, etc. This car is PERFECT for the person who want's a over the top type of project. It's a solid foundation, and the next steps are full suspension (coilovers mainly), full standalone ECU (think megasquirt), and really tear into the motor mods to make some substantial power (turbo, injector, cams, etc). For $6K it's a steal.

I hate to advocate its use, but Facebook groups in your local area might be the way to go. Most people join to sell/buy/trade anyway, and some are even dedicated to it.

Hmmm.... Perhaps taking it to a few local shows might help get it out in the public eye. I don't know, the only thing I can figure is maybe most of the potential market is diehard Honda or DSM fanbois and the rest would rather opt for something RWD.

Shows pose two problems. A, not my scene. B, no time. I've had it out to some of the local hangouts, but here, if you're not packing a domestic car pushing at a minimum of 650-700 RWHP, you're ignored.

Not really sure then. Only thing I'd know to do is try eBay again and whore it out wherever you can. It took me ages to find someone that wanted my Celica for what it was, and not just as "some car". It was mostly stock too, and I ended up selling it when I had decided I'd keep it(funny how that works). Really for whatever reason those into imports just don't care for the Celica at all it'd seem.

Yeah, the Celi's are an unheralded gem. It got a HUGE response on a area code based facebook page, people were going gaga over it "OMG, SICK" and all that stuff, but no one wants to make a move on it.

I'm tempted to throw it up for auction with a reserve but don't want to spend the money on it because that piles up quick.

You could probably get what you're looking for price wise by parting it out the whole thing. I know you don't have the time, but it really seems like the best option since it isn't selling.

Never going to happen. But I know I'd have the TRD shifter sold, lmao. I've had SO many requests from people to pull that off and sell it to them.

Your car is IMO one of the sexiest rides I have seen, here or otherwise! I have been watching this since you first put her up shortly after I joined last year. I actually tried calling my bank to see if they would let me refinance my car loan as a double or give me a second one for that matter. I have even tried to talk my future son in law into buying her....well buyin mine so I could buy her that is biggrin.gif . I could buy yours, if I put everything I am working toward doing with mine on hold, in like 6 months. Wish you had the time lol. And, not that my opinion matters, i agree wholeheartedly!!! Don't part her out unless you have NO other options. Good luck.

PLEASE SOMEONE BUY THIS..........and hold it for me for 6-8 months laugh.gif

Wouldn't hurt to try a BIN with Best Offer, then have it set with immediate deposit for BIN to eliminate any cheeky people.

That's what I had it up as. 6K BIN with BO, immediate $500 deposit. Had over 2500 views, almost 60 watchers, ONE guy who was asking questions, not even a single offer. Bunch of leg humpers on ebay is all.

I feel your frustration. Maybe if you Plasti-Dip it and throw on some Acura and Type-R badges that'll get it done.

OMG some people. Had a guy in-state contact me about the car as my ebay ad expired yesterday. We got to talking and he's pointing out the bad shocks and oil pan gasket leak like they're huge major issues. Says he's going to have to spend 2-3K to make it look like it's a car with 50k miles. Tried coming at me with NADA values for a 160K mile Celica and MR2 Turbo. He said he didn't want any of the extras, what's my bottom dollar? I told him I'd take $5K flat if I keep all extra's to sell (not much, GT4 calipers, couple small interior panels, etc) as that's the number I MUST have.

Dude offers me a Mac laptop and Xbox 1 and 2500 cash. AND KEPT TRYING TO GET ME TO BITE ON A TRADE the more we talked. I don't understand what part of "Cash Only" he didn't understand. I think this was a big dreamer. He told me he didn't want to put more than $5K into the car TOPS including purchase price, and that he may come up to $3500 or $4000 if I fixed the very small oil pan leak which I haven't fixed because it's not a major bother. I finally had to tell him he's wasting his time, I won't do anything under $5000 CASH.

I think what irritated me the most was his lack of researching for saying he did his research. Said my ebay ad was up for at least 2 weeks. Funny, I did a 7 day ad. Said the motor won't make it to 200K miles and at 160K he's got to think of that. Didn't bother seeing where the motor has around 90K on it huh? Well, the turbo will need replacing at 120K anyway? Seriously? I can buy a celica on Craigslist all day for $2000-3000. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH MONEY YOU'D HAVE TO SPEND ON ONE OF THOSE TO MAKE IT GOOD MUCH LESS REPLICATE WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO LOWBALL ME FOR? I should have just hung up on his arse.

I'd have guessed that too off of how the interaction went.
