My check engine light came on and I tested it. I got a code 12. I've researched it a bit and I think it means that no RPM signal going from the distributor to the ECU. Is that correct? How would I fix this?

I got a remaned Toyota from O'Relieys for pretty cheap when my dizzy pickup chewed itself up. It was under the name Import Warehouse or something like that.
