So I'm going to start putting together the engine soon and I've already got the crank polished and new bearings bought. Machinist said I needed std bearings, and that the crankshaft was good, but I still want to check for clearances.

I have no idea where to buy plastigauge so any help is appreciated.

You can always do it the proper way meassure the crank journals and rod caps do a bit of math then figure out what clearances you want then choose the bearings.

Plastigauge is a crud way, but better than noting!

I'm going to use it to double check my machinist's words. The journals (mains and rods) should be within spec using std sized bearings according to him, since they only needed a polish.
