okay here we go im starting my 5sgte thread im planning to go with the 3sgte crank instead of the 5s crank. does any body know exactly how this would work and if it does work. i know pressure2 was doing a big bore set up for someone like this and was wondering if you could use the 3sgte crank and rods.

You'd use a 3sgte intake and exhaust manifold since you're using a 3sgte head.
Correct me if I'm wrong but by going with the long block and short stroke crank won't the block have to be decked to the 3sgte piston height? -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

I thought I heard somewhere that you.can't use the 3s intake because it goes out to far or something like that. And I don't think so it just doesn't reach the deck |

I thought I heard somewhere that you.can't use the 3s intake because it goes out to far or something like that. And I don't think so it just doesn't reach the deck Huh? if you're using the 3sgte head the 5sfe intake manifold simply won't bolt on, so you just have no choice really. anywho if you're going to destroke the 5s block you need at a bare minimum to deck the block down to the 3s piston height or get custom pistons where the piston pin location is moved downward on the piston to raise the piston up to the 5s deck height. The 5s block is longer than the 3s to acommodate the longer stroke. That's why CP makes custom pistons for 5SFE crank in a 3SGTE block, because the pistons have their pins raised to lower the piston down to the 3sgte deck height. I could be wrong, so anyone can feel free to correct me but that's what makes sense to me. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold
