Was looking into dropping one of these into my car in the near future to replace my ageing 5s. From what I've read, it's just a 2.0 ltr version of the 5sfe. Does anyone know if common replacement parts like the water pump, seals, gaskets etc are the same?

Yes. For the most part the engine is the same. The major change for both is in the internals of the engine, mainly smaller bore pistons and a shorter stroke.
To directly answer your question, your water inlets/outlets should stay in the same location, the intake manifold, throttle body locations should stay the same, the water pump and oil pumps are the same, and I believe that most seals and gaskets don't change. However I'd make sure everything is compatible with the 3S-FE when purchasing your parts. Why not replace it with a newer 5S-FE? -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold
