what are the difference ?
1.8 california (w/egr) VS. Federal im looking for a new motor because mine is about to die, but when im asked which i have, i honestly dont know, and was told they are not compatible ? how do i find out ? -------------------- 94' Celica GT Manual |

Has to do with the emission set up on the car. Check your emission sticker under the hood.
California is vested the power to draft their own emission standards - they are the only state with this power. However, any state can adopt their standards. New Jersey goes by the CA standards, not the Federal. Though I'm unsure how your '95 is affected. But I don't know how this would affect the motor.
