Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be wrong with the steering column of my Celica?

I notice lately when the car is stopped, if I move the steering wheel rapidly from left to right that there is a little knocking noise....It almost feels as though the steering rack is not connected properly to the front wheels.

Is there some joint or bearing down there somewhere that I should be looking at?
I feel that it's getting worse over time and want to get it fixed before any damage is caused.

(I can feel it when slowing down too when the weight of the car is biased towards the front.)

Any help would be appreciated. confused.gif

Check your front suspension bushing and then your wheel bearings... could be one or the other... or both.
