Found an awesome set of rims and tires for my '99 GT ragtop. They are from an Chevy HHR (not stock) and are 5x110.

http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/pts/4045494385.html

The tires are 225/40/18. According to the tire calculator on tires.com, this is 1.65 inches taller than my 195/55/15s. So only .8 inches taller in every direction. I will be going 69 mph when my speedo says 65.

Isn't 205/50/15 supposed to the correct stock size?

If so, the height diff will only be 1.21 inches, .6 in each direction, going 68 mph when the speedo says 65.

The bite is the width...

I will screw up the technical terms, so I will describe in layman's terms. The wheels are 9 inches wide. However. where the inside of the wheel rests against the caliber is at least one inch deeper than my stock rims.

There is a spacer that convers 5x100 to 5x110. It is about 1 inch wide.

With those, the wheel sticks out 2 inches wider than stock. The equivalent of a 7 inch wheel on the inside. Correct?

For the bagillion dollar question... could this work? I believe my stock rims are only 6.5 (?) inches wide. Technically, it looks like the rim will only be .5 inches wider on the inside. Will two inches stick out too far from the fenders? I would like the fenders more filled out, but not too far.

Thank for any assistance!!!

you cannot just measure with a tape measure from what you have now, because the new specs and offset of the new wheel is different. Its best to use a tyre calculator to see the measurement differences on the outer and inner clearances. basically even if you had the same wheel width and different offsets, its already different, how much more with different widths and offset at the same time.
