Hi everybody,
I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to tuning engines to increase speed/horsepower. I have a 94 Celica GT with a 5sfe engine. I want to increase the power but I'm not looking for power that a turbo or supercharger would give. I just want to increase the horsepower by as much possible without turning to a turbo or supercharger. Basically. I just want the Celica to run a bit faster. So my question is: What do I need in order to increase the horsepower/torque of my 5sfe engine without looking into turbos or superchargers? My starting point is exhaust headers but I don't know what else i could get. Thanks! This post has been edited by RyuCelica: Oct 11, 2013 - 8:42 AM |

Air intake is a waste of money unless you do it right and do a TRUE cold air intake, and even then gains will be negligible on a lower power car. Header and exhaust won't hurt the car, if anything you help it by removing restrictions in the exhaust stream. Again, don't expect huge gains given the type of engine it is. Other thing you could do it shave the head to raise compression. Outside of that you have cams, forced induction, or swapping engines.
