I am sorry to ask this as it's probably posted somewhere, but the SEARCH did not show it and I didn't want to go through 29 pages.
Someone please help. I was told I have a rear (main?) oil seal leak. I thought that was in the timing belt area...but some mechanic told me the leak is on the tranny side... Anyway, if you know the sticky for the DIY oil seal, please share or any post related, I would appreciate it. I actually have two seals ready since I got it with my timing belt kit...but again, the leak is from the tranny side (driver's side) so I hesitate to open my timing belt cover. Thanks a bunch! You should try buying some bolts several inches long(like 4" or more) and thread them into the engineblock to bellhousing bolt holes once you have a few of those bolts removed. When you finally get the transmission fully disconnected you could possibly slide the transmission sideways on those bolts far enough to get at the flywheel and rear main seal without physically craning the transmission out of the car. Its gonna depend on which motor and trans you have though as to whether you have the room.
