So This is just the progress of my car it started off horrible. Fell in love with my car when I went to check it out had a cracked axle and 2 broke wheel bearings. Thing basically went off roading in an accident and had a cheap paint job. Started off white, then I plastidipped white paint over it (big mistake) sprayed the rims black, replaced a really bad fender, sprayed the rims black, lowered the car with eibach sportlines. Then sprayed her black added a lip nicer radio kicker 4 kicker speakers and mtx subs

Thats the plan. Although I'm just weighing prices and buying a manual one is just so much cheaper than doing the manual swap. I've toyed with the idea of nitrous and turboing. I mean if I dared turbo with an automatic trans I figure 4lbs of boost wouldnt hurt I would be going to a shop for the tune. If I blew it I'd probably use my car for parts and buy a manual 6gc. I mean the celica just handles better than a lot of other cars I've been in with comparable body style.

How bad was the rust after you got up close when you were painting? I would be tempted to just stick with what you've got for a bit and keep your eye out for a manual GT with no serious rust and a clean body and use that as a platform to build off. If you had the cash, you could keep your current one for a daily if you wanted to keep the new one off the road for a bit to do a swap or some other engine work. I also think fun per $$ wise, getting a manual one is better value than turboing an automatic (which is also a lot more expensive than it may seem).
