Previous owner removed the radio and amp from the car. I suck with electric stuff and correct me if I'm wrong but installing the Oem amp requires to take part of the center console apart.
I've heard of an Oem radio that had a built-in amplifier. Could I just simply get this model and simply bolt it, connect it and voilą? Or am I missing something? Anyone knows of this model, is there only one kind of radio with this built-in amp? If this works it'd save me up a lot of troubles. Thanks! |

"Taking the centre console apart" is just unclipping the centre trim piece starting at the shifter and working your way up (for a normal radio install). You can get stock Celica HU's that have all the amplification built-in to run the 6 speaker system - mine was. It is very hard to say how much effort it would be to rewire, as it is hard to know when hack-job the previous owner has done.... when I changed mine out I used an adapter harness so that I didn't cut my stock wiring, but almost all installers will just cut and shut.
You said OEM amp - was this specifically a look you were after? Because, as Sinyk said, you can just stick any cheap aftermarket head unit in and it'll do the job. -------------------- ![]() SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR -----> See it here on 6GC! 2013 October Celica of the Month XD Now: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 -----> See it here in off topic! |
