I have recently found a ct26 turbo for sale. It is fully rebuild with garret gt30 internals.
The seller claims the turbo is up to 480 hp.
Could that be true?
This is it

The problem with those hybrid setups is none of them (other than the ats racing "ct-27") addresses the boggest restriction, the exhaust housing itself.
Putting in anything larger than a 46 trim wheel just creates more lag without gaining much more up top.
Then once guys realize that, they start "clipping" the exhaust wheel, which in turn just creates more lag, again without adding much overall flow up top.
Ats racing went thru a whole bunch of diffrent tests with diffrent compressor wheels, and eventually settled in on the 46 and 50 trim compressor wheels, with some machining of the exhaust housing, and even eventually stopped selling the 50trim version.
What they ended up with is a turbo that basically performs like a ct-20b, with just a hair more top end and maybe 1-200rpm diffrence in spool vs a stock turbo.
Trying to cram a big compressor wheel in there with a stock exhaust side just creates a really badly matched turbo, that just performs like as$.
If you wanna upgrade for the stock ct26, pick up a ct20b. The market is good for em right now, you can get em for around 400 if your patient, and they are a nice upgrade over stock.
