So I been having this problem since Saturday. Basically here's how it happens. Start my car in the morning, car starts up perfectly fine. I let the car warm up for a few minutes and drive off. I get on the highway cruising at no more than 60mph and I notice my RPM needle fluttering back and forth by 300-400 rpms at a rapid pace. There are always time (very often) the car bucks and hesitates violently. Driving home from work today I decided to go locally because I didn't want to risk being on the highway with this issue. So while driving down a long stretch I approach a stop light, and with the car in neutral and foot off the clutch my car shut off. I manage to coast to a stop off the side of the road. Started the car right back up with no issue and took off. Then at another set of lights it happened again! Now I have no check engine light on FYI.
I took a look at the wires for the crank position sensor and they look in good shape. Did the same with the ignitor and all the wires are fine. Spark plug cable are new, I recently done a spark plug change. Asked some of the guys I work with and they say the distributor could be damaged or the crank position sensor could be faulty. Any advice you guys can give me would be awesome as I am trying to sell my car so I can get something newer ![]() 99 celica GT 146xxx miles 5spd -------------------- I only want to be faster than the guy next to me.
