All four generations will fit the same, using the same motor mounts, so that isn't really relevant. Most will argue that the 3rd gen is the best since it you can get more power without opening it up. Some may argue that the 4th gen is best since it has a stronger block and spools quicker.
Personally I'd go for the 3rd gen. It's the easiest to wire in and can handle 330 whp.
