I have a 94 GT with a motor from a 97+ camry in it, it works but they had to Aztec Engineer the bell housing

but it still has a federal emission distributor on it,
and the crank sensor wire just hangs there, no need to plug it in.

That's because the Camry doesn't have the same flywheel inspection cover, because the oil pan is different. Bolts up the same, but since this engine has balance shafts (which I removed) the oil pan has an extra "lump" to accommodate the huge shaft assembly.

Anyone know if the 1st gen and 2nd gen cams are interchangeable?

Rev 2 and Rev 3, yes. Rev 1 and Rev 2, no. The base circle is smaller on the Revision 1 5SFE cams, which means that if you had a 91 head you could send in a set of cams from a 93+ engine and have them simply reground, no need for welding on most grinds. (hint hint)

Revision 1 is identifiable by the intake manifold and valve cover they are usually attached to, plus you'll only find them from old 90-92 MR2s in the US, and a few old Camry.
