I have a complete 3sgte engine still attached to the subframe and transmission, which i have to strip down so i can ship the transmission. I have never done this before, so i just wonder if there is anything i should be aware of. Or if i can simply start pulling things apart. For instance, i dont know what to expect when i detach the motor from the gearbox. Any oil i have to remove? Some pictures or a quick how-to would be greatly appreciated.

With manual transmissions, once you remove all the bellhousing bolts the transmission will simply slide away from the engine until the clutch comes off the splined input shaft in the center of the transmission. You will probably want to try to support the engine and transmission as best as possible to prevent any damage to the input shaft and keep the transmission from falling to the floor.
Im not sure how much the E154 weighs, but with the smaller S54 in the GT I was able to lift the transmission in and out with my shoulder, once on jackstands and once on a car lift. With two people it shouldnt be a problem.


Another tip for removing and especially installing a transmission on most vehicles is to use the starter bolts (theyre usually 3 or 4 inches long) and thread these bolts into two opposite sides of the bellhousing before you seperate it from the engine. This way, when you pry the engine/tranny apart and the transmission comes off the input shaft, the starter bolts will keep the transmission supported and lined up with the engine. Once clear of the input shaft, remove the starter bolts and lower the tranny to the floor.
