My 94 GT is having an intermittent CEL code 14 with out any other CEL codes. The first time it happened, a local mechanic replaced the distributor and the ignition control module. The problem came back a week later. Since then I have replaced the spark plugs, wires, fuel filter and fuel pump. I realized after replacing the fuel pump that its probably not a fuel issue due to the ECM shutting off fuel when the CEL code 14 is present.
Please help me T-shoot this issue that has been haunting my Celica for 8 months. |

Is there a way to test the igniter? My local autozone dosent have the right connector to test it? Intermittent problems are the worst! I think this is something that you are going to have to do for yourself because of the investment in time it takes; any guy at a shop will usually just change out parts until they notice the problem is fixed; you, however, are expected to pay them for all the new parts and pay for their labor to install, whether the problem is fixed or not, since it is intermittant. I found a tutorial on YouTube that isn't directly about your CEL code 14, but gives you some of what you need to troubleshoot, or at least shows you where to begin, and a method to troubleshoot your problem. It's going to require patience and being very logical and through, as well as being persistent, but you can do it if you stick to it. Car electrical signals are mostly either on or off (12V or GND), so it isn't rocket science. I am assuming you have the shop manual (BGB) and/or the electrical diagrams, and can follow the wires. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG3EZJlyjl8 Good luck. |
