There are some minor differences between the JDM and USDM Supras. If I recall correctly the USDM's actually have upgraded turbo's, a better fuel system, and a better mapping of the ecu to utilize those upgrades better. The JDM ones because of the "gentleman's" agreement are limited to 280HP due to this while the TT USDM puts out 320HP/300ftlb.
I'm sure Smaay can chime in here regarding the details a little better than I. As for the pricing the above (as well as the first F&F movie), as well as the aftermarket potential of the engine is why they are priced as they are and continue to hold their value even as 15+ year old cars. For a manual TT with under 150k miles you're looking at $20k+ If you're looking at a rare color on top of that (Royal Sapphire Pearl, Imperial Jade Mica, Quicksilver) you're looking around $40k pretty much regardless of the mileage, and with low miles asking price is anywhere from 25-50% more than the car was new. The one I want (RSP TT w/ stock black leather interior), I haven't seen listed for under $50k. Can count on one hand the number of cars produced in the last 20 years that have held their value as well or even appreciated in value as collectors, and the USDM manual TT Supra is one of them.
