I was looking into some cam gears for my 3sge beams motor and I was wondering if these cam would able to fit right on the stock cam shafts that are in the engine. My one concern after looking at the cam pulleys on the Beams motor was the VVT-i pulley has the helical spline on it. Does that mean you can't put after market cam gears on this engine??
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adjustable-Cam-Gea...p;vxp=mtr" I mainly just wanted these for some simple engine dress up. This post has been edited by thatSt204guy: Jul 14, 2014 - 1:42 AM |

you will be hard pressed to find anything that just works on that motor. The simple answer is that I don't believe you can just bolt on aftermarket cam gears. I have two of these engines and that's not something I even want to come close to tackling. I had to talk to a guy who had his beams blow up just to get spare valves for the race car. If something goes terribly wrong, you'll mash valves on an engine whose valves I'm not sure are even able to be sourced.
my .02 - not worth it for engine dress up. Polish the header heat shield really shiny and get some bent aluminum dress up plates to go over the radiator gap. Paint the red beams valve cover something else, cam gears are way too risky you will be hard pressed to find anything that just works on that motor.
