Hi everyone
![]() I hope I've posted this in the right place. I'm quite interested in a gt4 st205 I've been offered, but it had a few small issues with it..... There's a slight knocking coming from the near side front suspension, the current owner seems to think it's a figure 8 linkage arm? Would this be an expensive or hard part to replace? Also, his advert says the car is not boosting untill 4500rpm, then it will boost hard to around 14psi (read on a digital boost gauge). The owner seems to think it's due to a faulty knock sensor. Does anyone think this is right? If not what would be the problem? And again is it an expensive or hard fault to fix? Some help would really be appreciated! ![]() Lewis |

Fig 8s can be a little tricky to replace, in theory it's only two bolts, but sometimes the bolt part can turn with the nut which makes removal a bit of a chore, or it can be simple it's just the luck of the draw. Fig8 on its own is around £100 to buy a new one, if it's the arm it's attached to then it starts to get expensive, nearly £400 for the lower arm, slightly more difficult to remove but nothing that a bit of patience won't see through.
Sounds like it has a hybrid turbo fitted? Mine is the same, if it's a standard turbo then there is a problem somewhere, as mentioned a badly set up boost controller or it could be failing, remove the pipe from the turbo that goes to the air box, then carefully with two fingers get a hold of the turbo shaft, there should be a slight amount of up and down movement, it will feel like about 1mm of movement but it's probably less, this is taken up by the oil pressure when the engine is started. However there should be no in and out movement what so ever. Turbos are obviously expensive and a bit of a nightmare to replace. -------------------- |
