The hybrid.
So I believe that the 98+ 5SFE block is suppose to be the strongest and is a direct mate with the rev3 3SGTE Head. Apart from the water jacket needing a bit of drilling? Looking at the comparisons I cant see the difference. Does anyone know?

4th gen 3SGTE from a caldina?
Does the forged crank off the 5S fit?
The exchange rate is pretty good for me so getting a 4th gen 3SGTE is a lot cheaper at the moment.

5s crank fits in any 5s or 3s block, the main journals are the same on both engines.

You will have to get 5sfe rods. There's a company that makes hbeams for the 5s, called MaxSpeedingRods (the ones i am using), and there is also pauter.

You could grind the crankshaft as well to fit 3sgte rods.

A 3sgte with a 5sfe ceankshaft bumps displacement up to 2.1L. You also get a bit more torque.
