I have found these two controllers for the same price. The Apexi web site has the neo as the new safc converter and says it works with the celica. I am wondering which one I should get? I have a 95' celica GT-S 2.2L 5sfe. Also what are the differences if any?

My understanding is that the Neo allows for more adjustments with finer controls and has a nicer display and interface. The SAFC2 is pretty dated, but the VFD display is readable in daylight.
Just remember that as you pull fuel away with the AFC you're doing it by altering the MAP signal to the PCM, so it's going to also adjust the timing table to match the MAP signal it's seeing. Pull fuel away via MAP adds timing, adding fuel via MAP pulls timing. You're just 'tricking' the computer into thinking there's more or less airflow so that it adds more or less fuel than it normally would, so naturally it's going to adjust everything else to match the airflow it's seeing or thinks it's seeing. -------------------- |
