The hybrid.
So I believe that the 98+ 5SFE block is suppose to be the strongest and is a direct mate with the rev3 3SGTE Head. Apart from the water jacket needing a bit of drilling? Looking at the comparisons I cant see the difference. Does anyone know?

I have run 600hp and 800nm on a 88 5s block.
It's not a lot of moods you need to do. If you have a complete 3rd Gen 3s engine and a block crank from the 5s, that's what you need. A friend of my used the 5s block and the stock 3s crank and rods, with just new Pistons and run that on 600hp.
If yyou have the 5s block with balanceshafts in you need to block a oil hole to that. Other then that you can use oil and water system directly from the 3s.
Be sure that you use the 3s crank timing gear though the 5s gear have 1 tooth less.
3rd Gen oil system works great and I don't use oil squirters under the pistons ether
