I've seriously been looking into saving up for one of these engines, but in addition to the enormous price (all of which I would have to pay for off $8.50 an hour for now), I don't know if it's going to pass smog in California, because we got it pretty strict here.
Anyone around here who has one know? I don't wanna be an idiot and invest all this money into an engine that I won't even be able to run legally; it would be a pain to have to add on to the cost of the swap, just to get it to pass smog. |

I thought that in Cali you could put any newer year engine in your car... I have a '94, so I could put a '96 USDM MR2 3SGTE in my car. I don't live in Cali, so don't take my word for it. But it's worth checking out. More work with MR2 engines though. Or you could move to Idaho, where they don't care.
