I've seriously been looking into saving up for one of these engines, but in addition to the enormous price (all of which I would have to pay for off $8.50 an hour for now), I don't know if it's going to pass smog in California, because we got it pretty strict here.
Anyone around here who has one know? I don't wanna be an idiot and invest all this money into an engine that I won't even be able to run legally; it would be a pain to have to add on to the cost of the swap, just to get it to pass smog. |

that's true here in California, you can swap any motor into your car aslong as the motor is of the same year, or newer. so your best option , if you have a 94 celica, is to source out a 94 or 95 mr2 turbo USDM and swap that motor. Then take it to a state smoge station, and they basicly give you like a barcode for your car that says you have a newer enging in your car. Then when you go get it smoged, they just scan the barcode, and instead of smoging a 94 celica, it's basicly be like smoging a 94 or 95 mr2 turbo. completely LEGAL........... |
