Hey yall. So I got my Celica from a junk yard in Germany, because I live here. And the engine is garbage. I also cane afford to import an engine from Japan or any of that, so my other alternative is to get an engine from the yard. I found a Toyota Paseo and the guy says the engine and tranny are good, but I need to know if the 5efe with bolt up to my Celica mount locations. The Paseo is a 1993 and im also getting the tranny from it. Has anyone done this swap before? will it work? Thanks

The 5E-FE, isn't the sort of motor you want to swap into a Celica, from memory they come with the C56 transaxle like the Starlets. Thats what they are good for swapping into. Making a 1.5L 4E-FTE (1.3L) with a <800kg body, they work well.
I'm going to say no to bolting up for the engine, as the E series is straight up like the A series. where as our S series is on that slant. You don't need to import from Japan. *hopefully* there are some spare 3S-GE in junkyards or local buy/sell websites, or try rebuild. As Box has said. -------------------- |
