 Downshifting an automatic, Is it bad? |

Somebody told me that downshifting in an automatic is bad for the transmission because it forces it or something.... I have never heard this and I don't know why the manufacturers would let you do it if it's bad for the car. Any ideas on whether this is fact or fiction?

What do you mean downshifting? Like, carefully applying the gas and a slight break in a way to tell the ECU to downshift? Or to actually move the shift bar to 2 and L?
