Hey folks.
I have a UK 1996 GT 3G-SE Manual. Today I started feeling a single front-end clunk when taking my foot off the clutch after a gear change. Then, going downhill at about 40mph, foot off the gas the front end started juddering like one of the wheels was loose. All of this goes away if I hold the clutch in. Basically, the only time there are NO symptoms are when I'm either accelerating, coasting in neutral, or driving gently in 5th. Any ideas? Engine mount? Clutch bearing? Extra info... There's no over-revving in 5th, so I don't think it's a slipping problem. Thanks. Lee. |

UPDATE: It's actually only happening when turning RIGHT (even slightly) and goes away turning left, so I'm guessing it's the left-side CV.
It goes away completely with clutch pressed in. The sound defintely appear to be coming from the centre-left. Not sure if it's an outer CV joint or a CV axle issue though. Maybe I should just replace both? |

Replace both if you replace one because the other one won't be far enough. Also, most people seem to post on the 6gc facebook group instead of the forums so seems to be dead here. Which is a pity because most of the people google their problems, not 'facebook'. |
